Apple took on Thursday the unusual step of apologizing for a short advertising video promoting the company's new iPad Pro tablet after the ad was roundly criticized on social media. Apple CEO Tim Cook posted the spot on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday. Apple has also decided not to run the ad on TV, Ad Age said. It isn't the first Apple iPad ad in recent years to annoy some customers. In 2018, some people said they were annoyed by an iPad Pro spot in which a child asks, "What's a computer?"

Difference between a personality hire and a good personality. There's a difference between a personality hire and someone who just has a good personality. We can get away with doing less workAs a personality hire, you can get away with not being as competent and doing half of your job. Companies need personality hires to build their company cultureCompanies that take pride in having "disruptive" and different work cultures need personality hires because otherwise, who's going to build that culture? New York CNN —The most famous – and arguably the best – Super Bowl ad in history, the Apple “1984” ad, was nearly killed by the company for whom it was made. But Apple’s board of directors hated the 1984 ad, according to some of the ad executives who worked on the campaign. They hated it so much, in fact, that they ordered the agency that made it, Chiat/Day, to sell off the time they had already purchased on that year’s Super Bowl, rather than run the ad. He said it also changed the way that companies thought about Super Bowl ads in the 40 years since it aired. Chiat/Day, the agency that created the ad people are still talking about 40 years later, was fired by Apple soon afterward.

Voicemod has created 20 "AI humans," digital personas that allow gamers to speak in voices other than their own. An artificial intelligence firm in Spain has unveiled a number of "AI humans" that allow people to modify their voices in video games — in real time. The voices are trained on voices from professional human voice actors. While many of today's AI algorithms allow people to submit text and receive something AI generated back, the feat of ensuring this is done in real time is much harder. The company is close to finishing a "watermarking" solution that can identify whether voices have been generated using modification systems.

Patrick O'Neill worked closely with the disgraced Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes. "Seeing those people be brought to justice is a comfort," he says of Holmes going to jail. I hadn't heard about Theranos before Elizabeth Holmes approached TBWA/Chiat/Day, the ad agency where I was a creative director, in 2012. Working with Holmes closely, I felt like she had to bring herself down to earth to communicate with me. Elizabeth Holmes and the Theranos story are now so well-known that when people ask me what my story is, I have to decide whether I'm going to talk about it.

It sounds morbid but the exercise is designed to call attention to “missing white women syndrome,” the tendency of news organizations to pay relatively little attention to missing people who don’t fit that category. According to the calculator, the disappearance of a 22-year-old white woman in New York would generate 67 stories. And a missing 25-year-old Black woman from New York would get eight. More than 92% of Americans would have heard about a 22-year-old missing white woman from Nevada, the tool says. There was no comparable data from when “missing white person syndrome” was first talked about two decades ago.
