Although originally prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes (Ozempic and Mounjaro), semaglutide and tirzepatide are becoming more and more popular for weight loss. If you are noticing an effect on your mood while using a GLP-1 medication, here’s what might be at play. Antidepressant effectsFor some, using a GLP-1 medication might relieve some anxiety or depression symptoms, Arillotta said. Blood sugarIf you feel like your mood takes a drop while you’re on GLP-1 medications, what and how much you’re eating or drinking might be to blame. “Extremes in blood sugar can impact mood,” said Tara Schmidt, lead dietitian at the Mayo Clinic Diet, an online weight loss program.

Savings Accounts and C.D.sWhat’s happening now: The rate reversal is likely to be most disappointing for savers, who have benefited from juicier yields on everything from online savings accounts and certificates of deposit to money market funds. Those are all likely to inch lower, in line with the Fed’s move, but some providers may move faster than others. That usually depends on whether the bank wants to attract new customers by dangling yields that are more attractive than their competitors’ offerings. If you’re considering certificates of deposit, now is probably the time to lock in a decent rate if you haven’t already. Online savings accounts averaged 4.40 percent in August, down from 5.1 percent the same month last year.

CNN —An Israeli official has floated the possibility of offering Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar safe passage out of Gaza, once all remaining hostages held in the Palestinian territory are released. On Tuesday, Hirsch elaborated on the idea in an interview with Bloomberg, saying Israel has already proposed safe passage to Sinwar. “I’m ready to provide safe passage to Sinwar, his family, whoever wants to join him,” he told Bloomberg. We want demilitarization, de-radicalization of course — a new system that will manage Gaza.”He told Bloomberg that the offer of safe passage was put on the table a day and a half ago, but did not say what the response was. For years, I didn't enjoy eating at fine dining establishments. Here are three tips from Lewis and chefs in New York City and Washington D.C. for how to best enjoy your time at a fine dining restaurant. But many fine dining establishments offer pre-fixe meals with a set cost that isn't always available ahead of time or rotating menus, so it's not clear what will actually be served that night. "A lot of fine dining establishments may not be transparent about price on their website," Lewis says. You'll probably enjoy your meal more if you don't feel blindsided by a dish or its price.

You know, Hillary Clinton, who was, I think, kind of a terrible candidate, won the popular vote by two points. So I don’t think they gave her a very good hand to play. It doesn’t matter who you are, it matters that you’re right and you’re able to prove it or bet on it in some way. What wasn’t in the Harris model that should have been?” “Yeah, maybe you really can meme your way to victory. And there’s something in it that I don’t think she can explain how she does it, but it makes her a fascinating leader.

Cybercrime is on the rise, but even the best antivirus software can’t thwart scammers who target the human psyche. Some of the most damaging and costly scams involve what’s known as “social engineering.” That’s when fraudsters use time-tested techniques of deception and emotional manipulation, tricking people into divulging personal or financial information, or even granting remote access to their computers. This is what happened to Barry Heitin, a 76-year-old retired lawyer who lost roughly $740,000 to sophisticated swindlers impersonating bank and government officials. People of all ages and socioeconomic levels are potential targets, but older Americans are particularly vulnerable. They’re more likely to have amassed savings, and they’re perceived to be more isolated or perhaps less computer savvy.

Interest rates influence our financial lives in numerous ways: Savers are now benefiting from higher-yielding bank accounts, while people carrying heavy revolving debt loads continue to be squeezed. It’s been a year since interest rates reached a two-decade high, but they may soon begin to reverse course. Now, Fed officials want to be sure prices remain under control while considering its second objective, which is to keep a strong job market. If interest rates are elevated for too long, they risk weakening the employment picture. The central bank uses interest rates to influence the broader economy.
