"Shark bites are really rare ... the last incident that occurred in Sydney Harbour was in 2009," Amy Smoothey, senior shark scientist at the New South Wales department of primary industries, told the Australian Broadcasting Corp.Based on the bite patterns and images provided, the woman was likely attacked by a bull shark, Smoothey said.

Made from biodegradable metal, the eight new hotels installed will provide much needed homes for the endangered seahorses. “It was really fantastic,” said marine biologist Mitchell Brennan, the project manager of the Sydney Seahorse Project. White’s Seahorses are endemic to the waters surrounding Australia’s east coast and were classified as endangered on the IUCN Red List in 2017 due to loss of habitat.

The great outdoors are now part of home life for Australian empty-nesters Mathew and Liz Kempton, after their gut renovation of a compact 1880s row house just north of Sydney Harbour Bridge. In 2017, they paid 4.35 million, Australian dollars, or about $2.88 million, for the 2,700-square-foot home that had an interior from a 1980s makeover. Working with CplusC Architectural Workshop, a studio in the Sydney area, they then spent about $1.7 million to reconfigure and reimagine the structure. It now has 3,800-square-feet of living space, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. A separate guesthouse, with a garage, has remained unchanged.
