The new documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” reconstructs his life and career, ultimately rendering a sensitive, harrowing and incredibly human portrait of the man as actor, advocate, husband and father. “You don’t overcome grief, you live with grief,” Bonhôte said in a recent interview with CNN. Reeve also worked with the American Paralysis Association, which soon became the Christopher Reeve Foundation. Ettedgui, who identifies himself as “definitely a Superman kid,” was moved by Reeve’s obvious effect on those around him, but was also “struck” by his internal journey. 24-year-old American actor Christopher Reeve plays the comic-book hero as he mends a broken railway track in a scene from the film "Superman."

CNN —“Superman” star Henry Cavill has asked dads the world over for their advice as he and partner Natalie Viscuso prepare for the birth of their first child. Cavill confirmed he and Viscuso (right) were expecting their first child back in April. Cavill and Viscuso, a television executive, have been dating for several years. The actor also recently admitted that he is not a fan of sex scenes, suggesting that graphic love scenes can sometimes feel gratuitous. Appearing on the podcast “Happy Sad Confused” in February, Cavill said he felt that intimate scenes are sometimes “overused.”

AdvertisementAmong my kids' classmates and friends, I can't name a single child born in recent years whose name falls into this category. Related storiesOne of my kids technically has a gender-neutral name, but admittedly, it wasn't an issue when we named him in Germany. Another interesting fact is that common German last names, like Schroeder or Fischer, can't be given as first names in Germany. The reason for these names being rejected is due to child protection grounds, as they are seen by German law as acts of child cruelty. Fortunately, this particular law was never an issue for us — we certainly never intended to give our children names like Stalin or Captain Marvel.

Cavill began his stint as Superman with a $300,000 upfront paydayHenry Cavill as Superman in "Man of Steel." Warner Bros. The movie would go on to make over $670 million worldwide, and though Cavill might have gotten a little taste of what the movie took in after all the money was counted, at the start, he received $300,000 upfront, according to The Hollywood Reporter. CNN —A 1938 comic featuring Superman’s first appearance sold for $6 million at auction on Thursday, becoming the most expensive comic ever, according to Heritage Auctions, which handled the sale. And despite its age, this comic was still in very good condition, with rich colors and a little wear at the top. Only two other unrestored copies exist in better condition, Heritage Auctions said, and only 100 in total are estimated to survive out of the 200,000 originally printed. The comic was in remarkably good condition for its age. Other copies have also sold for record-breaking prices, including one in 2021 that went for $3.25 million and became the most expensive ever comic at the time.

Why streamers are shrinking their content libraries
  + stars: | 2024-04-02 | by ( Sarah Whitten | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +6 min
Last year many streaming services began shrinking their once-robust content libraries in order to pay smaller licensing fees. In the face of profit pressures and growing competition for viewers, streamers have taken to removing content to avoid the residual payments and licensing fees. On one side is Netflix , Amazon and Apple — companies that agnostically license content from other studios to bolster their streaming libraries. Disney-owned Hulu, meanwhile, has seen success with "feel good" 30-minute sitcoms and prestige dramas, Fandom's data shows. Disclosure: Peacock is the streaming service of NBCUniversal, the parent company of CNBC.
