(Reuters) - At least three people were killed on Monday in the crash of a helicopter carrying a group of recreational skiers on an outing in British Columbia, the tour operator said in a statement. The chopper went down near Terrace, a town of about 12,000 residents in the Skeena region of west-central British Columbia about 70 miles (112 km) east of the Alaska border, according to Northern Escape Heli-Skiing. The British Columbia Emergency Health Services reported separately that four people injured in the crash and treated by paramedics at the scene were taken to Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace in critical condition. It was left unclear whether any of those initially hospitalized were among the victims later listed as deceased by the tour operator, whose website promotes trips featuring "big mountain, backcountry skiing at its finest." There was no official word on the cause or circumstances surrounding the crash, which occurred at about 4 p.m. local time.

The suspect, 23-year-old Romeo Nance, shot himself to death on Monday night as U.S. marshals gave chase outside a gasoline station near San Antonio, Texas, ending a manhunt that began 24 hours earlier about 1,200 miles (1,930 km) to the north outside Chicago, police said. Will County sheriff's deputies tied that slaying to the getaway car used in the nearby shooting of another man who survived his attack with a leg wound. Dan Jungles, deputy chief sheriff, said Nance had an "extensive criminal history" but that getting answers to the killings may ultimately confound investigators. "We may never know the truth of the motive behind these senseless killings," he said.

The rendezvous came about 37 hours after the Axiom quartet's Thursday evening liftoff in a rocketship from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Once the astronauts reach the space station, they fall under the responsibility of NASA's mission control operation in Houston. The multinational team was led by Michael López-Alegría, 65, a Spanish-born retired NASA astronaut and Axiom executive making his sixth flight to the space station. Axiom also is one of a handful of companies building a commercial space station of its own intended to eventually replace the ISS, which NASA expects to retire around 2030.

Powell was charged with four counts of murder, one count of residential robbery and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said there was no known connection among the four men who were slain and suggested that additional victims might end up linked to the case. Nov 21 (Reuters) - At least one person has been killed and multiple others were believed to be missing in a major landslide along the principal roadway serving an island community in Southeast Alaska, state officials said on Tuesday. "Multiple individuals are believed to have been within the slide area when the landslide occurred and are believed to be missing," the statement said. Alaska state police assumed command of the search-and-rescue effort, but ground-level search operations were suspended while geologists assessed the risk of additional landslide activity in the area, the public safety agency said. Wrangell is linked to the mainland and other towns in Southeast Alaska by ferry and airplane. Its principal road is the Zimovia Highway, which runs along the west side of the island for 14 miles.

Nov 17 (Reuters) - Gunfire erupted on Friday in the lobby of a state psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire before the threat was neutralized and the suspect was killed, state police and emergency management officials reported. New Hampshire state police initially had reported "multiple victims" from the shooting, but state police Colonel Mark Hall later told reporters the shooting was confined to the lobby area of the facility and that "all patients are safe." The shooting erupted at about 3:40 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord, the state capital. The facility is a secure, in-patient psychiatric hospital where all visitors must enter through medal detectors and a police officer is always on duty, according to Manchester-based television station WMUR-TV. The project was expected to commence immediately and continue around the clock until completed, California Governor Gavin Newsom said. Meanwhile, arson investigators were continuing their work seeking to identify the person or persons responsible for setting the fire, Newsom said. Nov 9 (Reuters) - Baltimore's former top prosecutor Marilyn Mosby was found guilty of perjury on Thursday for falsely claiming financial duress to withdraw funds from a retirement plan. A U.S. District Court jury in Greenbelt, Maryland, convicted Mosby, 42, on both federal perjury counts she faced after hours of deliberation. Mosby, a Democrat, lost her bid for a third term after she was indicted on federal charges in January 2022. Mosby's defense team argued in court that she did not lie in stating financial hardship because her private travel business took a hit during the pandemic. None of the six officers charged in his death was convicted.
