As the drink’s name suggests, “it’s intended to get you extremely drunk.”What Lembke calls the BORG’s “social contagion factor” makes it even more dangerous. BORG posts starring gallon jugs with punny names such as Captain Borgan, Our Borg and Savior, Borgan Donor and Borgan Wallen proliferate on TikTok. Thinking along those lines is part of what makes BORGs potentially dangerous to the people turning to them as a party drink, Lembke said. The fact that BORGS are usually sweetened with a diluting agent such as electrolyte drinks or water flavor enhancers only makes them more dangerous, she said.

Using telescopes capable of detecting X-rays, a team of astronomers has for the first time observed this area — called the “plunging region” — in a black hole about 10,000 light-years from Earth. The study’s findings could help astronomers better understand the formation and evolution of black holes. One thing that’s missing from the study is an actual image of the black hole, because it is too small and far away. But another team of Oxford researchers is working on something even better than a picture: the first movie of a black hole. “For example, it can be used to measure the rotation rate of the black hole,” said Reynolds, who was not involved in the study.

The result is an interactive 3D model of the brain tissue, and the largest dataset ever made at this resolution of a human brain structure. CNN —The cosmos is full of mysteries waiting to be solved, and some of them appear especially eerie with the arrival of Halloween. A haunting “face” on Jupiter and a ghostly, skeletal hand-shaped nebula are just a couple of creepy celestial features recently spotted by NASA missions. Jupiter's swirling atmosphere appears to include a face in this image taken by JunoCam. The nebula, known as MSH 15-52, is located about 16,000 light-years from Earth. NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory observed the pulsar, known as PSR B1509-58, for the first time in 2001.

CNN —Making water more accessible to kids leads to an increase in hydration and a decrease in children being overweight, according to a new study. The study, published Monday in the journal Pediatrics, included more than 1,200 students across 18 schools in California’s Bay Area. Half of the schools were gifted water dispensers in the cafeteria and water-bottle filling stations in areas of high traffic, Patel said. “I always tell people, drink water first — as that will reduce a person’s thirst and likelihood that they will drink sugary drinks. “If we really care about kids’ health, we won’t give them health information with a side of body shame, because we know weight stigma hurts kids’ health,” Hanson said.

Assumptions 27 years later might be different, but social pressures remain that make it difficult for men to express the vulnerability and intimacy needed for close friendships, Sileo said. Men who were more emotionally restricted, focused on power and who scored high on surveys measuring homophobia are less likely to have intimate and close friendships, he said. “If you can have a handful of friends that are quality, that’s better than having a slew of friends.”
