London CNN —Soccer icon David Beckham exchanged beekeeping tips with King Charles, he said, when the pair met ahead of the former England captain being named ambassador for The King’s Foundation. Beckham met the King at Highgrove Gardens in the Cotswolds, England, where he also met students of the King’s Foundation, who practice skills such as woodworking and embroidery in specialized workshops on site. In his work with The King’s Foundation, Beckham will be hoping to spread awareness of the charity’s mission. The King’s Foundation was originally called The Prince’s Foundation, and came into existence after a number of Charles’ charitable projects merged into one group in 2018. Beckham visited students at the Snowdon School of Furniture, one of The King's Foundation's specialist workshops.

Goldman Sachs finds it is too early to call an end to a battery raw materials price plunge, warning that significant supply pipelines and Western electric vehicle headwinds could keep prices lower for longer. Goldman Sachs said the outlook appeared bearish for nickel, lithium and cobalt. On a 12-month basis, analysts at Goldman said the Wall Street bank is targeting a 12%, 15% and 25% downside in cobalt, nickel and lithium carbonate, respectively. Lithium prices are down nearly 70%, compared to the same period last year. Nickel prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) were last trading at $17,945 per metric ton on Tuesday, while cobalt prices on the LME stood at $28,550 per metric ton.

CNN —A ruff-collared, pale pink blouse Princess Diana wore in a 1981 engagement portrait is expected to fetch up to $100,000 when it goes up for auction next month. Diana wore the blouse while posing for a portrait taken by Lord Snowdon that several magazines and newspapers, including Vogue, used when her engagement to the then Prince Charles (later King Charles III) was announced. After the blouse was worn by Diana, the designer held onto it until she sold it in 2010. Another of Diana’s outfits, an evening dress she wore in public twice, is expected to sell for up to $200,000 at the same auction. Other items in the auction include memorabilia used or worn by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the 1950s and 1960s.

Aug 8 (Reuters) - Piedmont Lithium (PLL.O) on Tuesday drew skepticism and anger at a key meeting with local North Carolina officials about its plans for a lithium mine that would supply the electric vehicle battery metal to Tesla (TSLA.O). Piedmont said it would be open to helping its neighbors in those situations dig deeper wells or connect to municipal water supplies. Piedmont first signed a deal to supply lithium to Tesla in 2021 from North Carolina. "We've not heard from Piedmont Lithium in over two years," said Warren Snowdon, whose land shares an 8,000-foot-border with the proposed site. "So I don't know if they don't care and I don't know if they're concerned about us."

Goldman Sachs and Bank of America say copper could hit record highs in the coming year, as short-term supply tightness and long-term energy transition-related demand push the red metal north. Three-month copper futures on the London Metal Exchange were trading around $8,525 per metric ton on Friday in Europe. LME copper prices peaked at over $10,600/t in March this year, but two of Wall Street's biggest names see further price rises ahead. Both Goldman and Bank of America highlighted the energy transition as a key driver of copper markets looking ahead. While Bank of America's Michael Widmer said: "Copper is set to rally as usage in green technologies should offset cyclical demand weakness."

You become a little bit delirious at times.”That night on the mountain was not the first time Jackson had strayed perilously close to death. Five years ago, while still a professional rugby union player, he dived into a shallow pool on a hot day and broke his neck. Then, to mark the one-year anniversary of his accident, Jackson set himself the goal of climbing Mount Snowdon – the highest mountain in Wales at 1,085 meters – even though he was still using two crutches at that time. Confronted by unfavorable snow conditions, Jackson and his team had to navigate difficult routes across the glacier, setting up camps as they went. He established the charity Millimeters to Mountains (M2M) with his wife, Lois, and friend and fellow former rugby player, Olly Barkley.
