AdvertisementMy family fractured, but at summer camp I felt normalThat happened the day before I was set to start junior high. Kids don't process grief the way adults doFor years, I ruminated on the idea of a camp for bereaved kids. Comfort Zone Camp started in 1999 near my home in Virginia. AdvertisementThe acts might be a child singing for their mom, who loved music, or tossing a football with their friend because dad loved to play. The whole thing was so silly but meaningful — the exact recipe for helping kids process loss.

Especially the last bit: Corporate America is obsessed with ensuring their employees are staying productive when they’re working remotely, away from the gimlet eyes of management. It’s easy to imagine the types of pretend productivity gadgets these employees might have used: “mouse jigglers,” gizmos with a questionable name that make random, small motions of a mouse or touchpad. And Wells Fargo’s crackdown on these gadgets is just the latest attempt by big business to rein in perceived slacking by remote employees. Opinion | Should Social Media Come With Warning Labels?
  + stars: | 2024-06-24 | by ( ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: 1 min
To the Editor:Re “Social Media Platforms Need a Health Warning,” by Vivek H. Murthy, the U.S. surgeon general (Opinion guest essay, June 18):Dr. Murthy makes a compelling case for social media warning labels and offers parents sound suggestions for protecting their kids from toxic content. An entire generation of children is growing up watching their parents, older siblings and other family members glued to their phones, posting pictures, sharing memes, debating politics and doomscrolling day and night as life passes them by. Consistently modeling the behavior they’d like to see in their kids would circumvent even the most powerful algorithms and make parents the ultimate social media influencers.
