“Wherever a farm may be located, or whatever may be its production, fence, fence, fence, is the first, the intermediate, and the last consideration,” the farmer and journalist Sereno Edwards Todd wrote in 1860. Mike Wilson, a rancher in northern Washington State, uses it to keep his herds safe, as his father and grandfather did. Instead they joined a pilot program for a technology designed to fence in their cattle virtually rather than physically. It starts with two solar-powered base stations, about the size of an upright piano, topped with a 20-foot-tall radio antenna. If a cow approaches one of the invisible fence lines, her collar emits a series of warning beeps.

The David Kordansky Gallery has mounted a wonderful wormhole of an exhibition, “Doyle Lane: Weed Pots.” Its point of access is the small unassuming “weed pot,” a frequent accent in modern California interiors starting in the late 1950s. From this seemingly modest beginning, Lane (1923-2002), who was African American, created a dazzling universe of color, shape, texture and proportion. He also made ceramic tile, pendant jewelry, paintings and murals, but the “weed pot" is his signature. Kordansky’s generous display of 100 pots is Lane’s first solo show in New York. Lane didn’t invent the “weed pot,” but as this exhibition proves, he perfected it.

But for many workers like Diana Rios-Sanchez, who works as a housekeeping supervisor at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, the pay has not helped to keep up with inflation. On Thursday, the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, a large hotel in downtown Los Angeles, announced that it had staved off a walkout of its workers with a contract deal.

He is an LGBTQ rights advocate who has been featured in both “Marvel’s Voices: Pride” and DC Comics’s “DC Pride” anthology and the creator of the character Sereno. CNN —Something magic happens when a kid connects with superhero comics. I grew up as a closeted queer kid in self-denial, in a cultural context with scarce representation and acceptance. That’s when the opportunity arose to manifest Sereno, my own creator-owned superhero for the local Argentinian scene. He is the hero I wish I had as a kid, who would in turn save my past, present and future.

Sereno and his team returned to their work with Spinosaurus in search of answers about what life had really been like for the fearsome dinosaur. James GurneyNext, the team turned to Spinosaurus’ tail. Dr. Frank Fish, tail mechanics expert and professor of biology at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, took the lead. Fish compared the Spinosaurus tail with those of alligators and other reptiles and found the dinosaur would have been too rigid to function well underwater. Spinosaurus fossils have largely been found in the riverbank deposits of Niger’s inland basins, which are distant from prehistoric marine coastlines.
