For the first time in its 88-year history, the UAW is on strike at all three of the Detroit companies at once. "We have a bigger point to make," Wegener said, noting the strike sends a larger message about inequality across the industry. In fact, the United Auto Workers-led strike at the Detroit 3 is shaping up to have an outsized effect on the entire automotive industry. Now, parts companies are struggling amid macroeconomic concerns, inflation, in addition to the transition to EV components (or risking becoming defunct), and that will impact the automakers they supply to.
