The Esper Hand is the first product from Esper Bionics, a Ukrainian-US based company focused on next-generation prosthetics. “I think AI will be the next step in bionics,” says Dima Gazda, CEO of Esper Bionics. According to Esper Bionics, 70 Ukrainian soldiers are currently serving with Esper Hands, but the need greatly outnumbers the supply. Every morning, a group of Ukrainian veterans gather inside the clinic and go over the schedule for the day. Esper Bionics sells the Esper Hand (which normally sell for around $20,000) to Protez at manufacturing costs, and then Protez fits them to users for free.

CNN —A federal appeals court on Tuesday rejected the latest attempt by Hunter Biden to pause his upcoming gun trial while the president’s son pursues some long-shot appeals. The quick decision came from the same three-judge panel that previously rejected one of Hunter Biden’s attempts to throw out the indictment. This is one of several bids by Hunter Biden to slow down or postpone his gun trial. Hunter Biden testified at a court hearing last year that he has been sober since 2019. That trial is scheduled for late June, a few weeks after the gun case is expected to wrap up.

So it goes for Menendez, who is likely pleased to have his legal drama playing out in relative obscurity. More recently, Fetterman mocked the senator’s defense, which relies in part on pointing the finger of blame on Nadine Menendez, his wife. Republicans in Washington, as they’ve done during these first two weeks of the Menendez trial in New York, have been consistently deferential to the New Jersey Democrat. Rep. Andy Kim, a popular Democrat from South Jersey, is expected to win the nomination to succeed Menendez. Andrew Giuliani, pressed for a thought on the senator’s trial or the allegations against him, shrugged.

CNN —Rudy Giuliani has agreed to never again publicly accuse two Georgia election workers of tampering with votes in the 2020 election, a false accusation that he has repeated frequently and that led to his bankruptcy. With the agreement, Giuliani is forfeiting a yearslong verbal and legal battle he’s waged with the election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss. “Today ends his efforts to profit off of lies about these two heroes of American democracy,” the workers’ attorney Michael Gottlieb said in a statement. The trial provided a searing glimpse into the harassment election workers suffered while prominent Trump supporters spread lies about the 2020 election. Israeli forces recovered the remains of three Israeli hostages during an operation in Gaza last night, the Israeli military said today, but officials did not say where they were found. The Israeli military spokesman identified them as Amit Buskila, Shani Louk and Yitzhak Gelernter. The recovery of the remains highlighted a growing anxiety over how many hostages are still alive after seven months of war. Roughly 125 living and dead hostages remain in Gaza, including several U.S. citizens, according to the Israeli authorities. Separately, trucks of humanitarian aid began moving ashore into Gaza today through a temporary pier built by the U.S. military.

Bitcoin's halving in April could force crypto miners to sell some tokens, Kaiko Research reported. These firms haven't yet had to tap their bitcoin hoards thanks to high transaction fees, but that could change. The April halving is a pre-coded event in which the amount of bitcoin rewarded to crypto miners is slashed in half. According to Bloomberg, fees jumped amid a burst of meme-coin creation after the halving event. Miners are often known for hoarding bitcoin troves without selling, which analysts have previously pointed out as another price-boosting supply constraint.

Tesla is being sued by the nonprofit Environmental Democracy Project, which alleges "ongoing failure to comply with the Clean Air Act" at the electric vehicle company's assembly plant in Fremont, California. The latest lawsuit in California described Tesla's environmental violations as "ongoing" and said that residents and employees in the surrounding area have been exposed to "excess amounts of air pollution, including nitrogen oxides, arsenic, cadmium, and other harmful chemicals." The Bay Area Air Quality Management District, an environmental regulator, recently accused Tesla of allowing "unabated emissions" in Fremont that should have been prevented. Air pollution from the assembly plant is the result of equipment that frequently breaks down, allowing emissions to vent directly into the air without proper filtration, regulators have said. Additionally, Tesla employees or contractors have allegedly shut off air pollution controls in the factory, particularly when the company was having trouble with other paint shop equipment.

Hunter Biden, son of U.S. President Joe Biden, arrives at the White House December 19, 2023 in Washington, DC. Hunter Biden's federal gun case will go to trial next month, a judge said Tuesday, denying a bid by lawyers for the president's son to delay the prosecution. President Joe Biden's son is accused of lying about his drug use in October 2018 on a form to buy a gun that he kept for about 11 days. Hunter Biden was supposed to plead guilty last year to misdemeanor tax charges and would have avoided prosecution on the gun charges had he stayed out of trouble for two years. Hunter Biden was indicted on three gun firearms charges in Delaware and was charged separately in California, where he lives, with tax crimes.
