Formula 1 has two new team names this season, which follow a trend in the sport to focus on marketing: Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team and Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber. Sauber Motorsport has been racing since 1993 under various names, most recently as Alfa Romeo. “Before Audi’s arrival, we felt it was important to present ourselves with this new identity and to have a commercial partnership in place,” said Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the Stake team representative. “The Sauber Group has been in Formula 1 for 32 years, but this doesn’t mean we have forgotten what Sauber is. “The reality is that we said from the outset last year that we would move closer to the Red Bull family.”

A show model Audi Formula 1 car on Aug. 26 2022 in Belgium after announcing its participation in the F1 Grand Prix of Belgium. Audi's entry into Formula 1 has moved a step closer after the German car manufacturer acquired a minority stake in Sauber. The purchase comes three months after Sauber confirmed they would become Audi's strategic partner when the German marque enters Formula 1 in 2026. On Jan. 14, Andreas Seidl replaced Vasseur as Sauber's chief executive after the latter joined Ferrari , and will oversee Audi's entry into F1. In a statement sent to Sky Sports, an Audi spokesperson said this is a "key milestone" for the German's F1 entry in 2026.

Sauber has been involved in Formula One since 1993 and currently competes with Ferrari engines, under the name of Alfa Romeo, a Stellantis brand. "Together we want to write the next chapter from 2026," Adam Baker, CEO of Audi Formula Racing said. Sauber Motorsport said in a statement that the team will continue to use Ferrari power units for the next three seasons until the rules change. "Audi is the best strategic partner for the Sauber Group," said Sauber Holding's board chairman Finn Rausing, the Swedish billionaire whose family owns packaging company Tetra Laval. Formula One's next generation of power units will have significantly more electrical power and use 100% sustainable fuels from 2026.
