Mr. MacIntyre’s running group surprised him at the finish of his 100th half marathon with a banner listing all 13.1-mile races he’s completed over the years. He ran his first marathon at age 70 and, after completing more than a half-dozen 26.2-mile races in the span of two years, turned his attention to the half marathon. When the coronavirus forced races to go virtual, he convinced six original Seasoned Soles members to join him for virtual 5Ks and 10Ks. He recently completed his 102nd half marathon virtually in 2:50:14, his fastest time since he ran his 86th half in April 2019. After the run, he meets the Seasoned Soles for socially distanced workouts.

REUTERS/Jorge Dan LopezPANAMA CITY (Reuters) - A Panamanian court has ordered a new trial of former President Ricardo Martinelli in a case alleging he unlawfully spied on politicians, union leaders and journalists during his 2009-2014 presidency, the country’s top prosecutor announced on Friday. The appeals court threw out Martinelli’s 2019 not guilty verdict, but did not set a date for the new trial. Prosecutor Ricaurte Gonzalez cited what he described as “an incorrect assessment of much of the evidence” presented at the previous trial. Martinelli maintained his innocence and accused his successor and one-time ally Juan Carlos Varela of conspiring against him.

Biden could help unfreeze Colombian peace talks: ELN rebel leader

HAVANA (Reuters) - Joe Biden’s election as U.S. President could help unfreeze peace talks between Colombia’s biggest active rebel group, the Marxist National Liberation Army (ELN), and the Colombian government, ELN leader Pablo Beltran told Reuters on Friday. FILE PHOTO: Pablo Beltran, representative of the delegation of the National Liberation Army (ELN), looks on during a news conference in Havana, Cuba August 2, 2018. Beltran, head of the ELN peace talks delegation in Havana, said he nonetheless hoped Biden’s backing would provide the necessary impetus to find alternatives to get the ball rolling again. The United States has been Colombia’s most important ally for decades and backed former President Juan Manuel Santos’ 2016 peace deal with the larger rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). “His fierce position against peace is in decline, and his strong support was Trump but Trump is gone,” Beltran said.

Their call amounted to an acknowledgment that Mr. Biden will be declared the victor in the election. “Yes, I think so,” Mr. Graham, a close Trump ally, also said about Mr. Biden receiving the briefings. “President-elect Biden should be receiving intelligence briefings right now,” said Ms. Collins, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee. It had been unclear how actively Mr. Biden, the incoming head of the party, would involve himself in negotiations before his inauguration. The case was based in part on an affidavit from a poll worker who said voters were being pressured to vote for Mr. Biden.

William Rodrigues dos SantosHad this been a normal year, the Tony Awards would have occurred in June and Broadway would be gearing up for its lucrative holiday season. The coronavirus pandemic prematurely ended the 2019-2020 Broadway season, limiting the number of eligible nominees and eliminating the 2020-2021 season entirely. Setting the stageThe Tonys aren't just a time for Broadway to hand out awards and celebrate the previous season of shows. "The Tonys have become so important that shows are now frontloaded in a season so they open right before the awards," said Miller. "So a huge number of Broadway shows open in late March and early April."
