Naval experts agree that drone ships represent new possibilities while pointing out that these ships fall far short of the aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships that top navies sail. CNN —German authorities have issued an international arrest warrant for a Ukrainian man suspected of carrying out the explosions that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipeline two years ago. The explosions left gas billowing from Nord Stream 1 and 2 – two major conduits that transported Russian gas to Europe – and prompted a huge operation to find who was responsible. Neither of the pipelines were actively transporting gas to Europe at the time of the leaks, though they still held gas under pressure. During that voyage, the crew is reportedly suspected of diving into the Baltic Sea and attaching explosives to the massive Nord Stream pipelines, which subsequently detonated and damaged both lines, according to the outlets. The Nord Stream project had been controversial long before Russia invaded Ukraine.

A ship in the Red Sea was targeted in a third attack suspected to have been carried out by Yemen’s Houthi rebels Tuesday in their campaign of assaults over the Israel-Hamas war, officials said. The Houthis have targeted more than 70 vessels with missiles and drones since the start of the war in Gaza in October. Other missiles and drones have been either intercepted by a U.S.-led coalition in the Red Sea or failed to reach their targets. After the strikes, the Houthis paused their attacks until Aug. 3, when they hit a Liberian-flagged container ship traveling through the Gulf of Aden. Additional F-22 fighter jets have flown into the region, while the USS Wasp, a large amphibious assault ship carrying F-35 fighter jets, is in the Mediterranean Sea.

In July’s NYT/Siena poll of Pennsylvania, Biden’s popularity was well underwater among likely voters, with 39% viewing him favorably and 59% viewing him unfavorably (-20 net rating). By comparison, 45% had a favorable view of former President Donald Trump, while 52% had an unfavorable view (-7 net rating). Half of likely voters view Harris favorable and 48% view her unfavorably (+2 net rating) in Pennsylvania. As for Trump, his rating in Pennsylvania is now at 48% favorable and 51% unfavorable (-3 net rating). When the three battleground state polls are combined, 46% of likely voters hold a favorable view of him, while 53% hold an unfavorable one (-7 net rating).
