SAN FRANCISCO, July 14 (Reuters) - SK Signet (260870.KN) told Reuters on Friday that it has signed a deal to supply 1,000 electric vehicle chargers to Francis Energy, in a move to tap federal funding on charging stations nationwide. The two are among several companies which were selected by Ohio state to receive more than $18 million in combined federal funds to build 27 electric vehicle fast charging stations along some of its interstate corridors. SK Signet, which also counts charging station operators Electrify America and EVgo (EVGO.O) as its customers, last month opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Texas. Ohio said all 27 stations announced this week will have the required Combined Charging System (CCS) plug, not Tesla connectors. "We’re considering whether to require it (the Tesla connector) or make it an optional enhancement in future rounds," a state official told Reuters.

SAN FRANCISCO, June 20 (Reuters) - BTC Power will add Tesla's (TSLA.O) standard to its electric vehicle chargers next year, its chief executive told Reuters on Tuesday, days after Ford (F.N) and General Motors (GM.N) sent shockwaves through the industry by adopting the technology. Privately-owned BTC, a supplier to 7-Eleven and fleet operators, is the fourth major fast charger maker to embrace Tesla's standard, following ABB E-mobility North America (ABBN.S), Tritium DCFC (DCFC.O), and SK Signet (260870.KN). "By including the NACS (North American Charging Standard) connector to our chargers we can eliminate the need for unreliable and unpredictable adapters that are being utilized by drivers using our equipment," BTC CEO Frank Meza said. Reuters first reported on Tuesday that electric pickup maker Rivian (RIVN.O) would adopt Tesla's charging standard. June 15 (Reuters) - Electric-vehicle (EV) charger maker SK Signet (260870.KN) said on Thursday it was adding products compatible with the North American Charging Standard (NACS), after major U.S. automakers Ford (F.N) and GM (GM.N) said they were adopting Tesla's (TSLA.O) model of charging. Electric vehicle charging companies are cautiously embracing Tesla's charging technology as the main U.S. standard, as they are in danger of losing out on customers if they offer only the Combined Charging System (CCS). Earlier this week, EV charging equipment makers Blink Charging (BLNK.O), ChargePoint (CHPT.N) and Tritium (DCFC.O) said they will offer chargers with Tesla's connector. The White House aims to spur deployment of hundreds of thousands of chargers, which it sees as integral to EV adoption. SK Signet will continue to provide customers with the option of other widely used standards for EV charger connections, including the CCS, CHAdeMO and the Megawatt Charging System.

The biggest makers and network operators of EV charging stations include Tesla Inc (TSLA.O), ChargePoint Holdings Inc (CHPT.N), EVgo Inc (EVGO.O) and Electrify America. In Arizona, the state's Department of Transportation is leading efforts to build charging stations, and expects $76.5 million in federal charging funds over the next five years. The first, $1.25 billion round of the Biden buildout is focused squarely on the highway fast chargers, with later rounds including slower chargers for overnight charging, for instance. Its South Korean charger manufacturer, SK Signet Inc (260870.KN), is planning to open a Texas factory to produce up to 10,000 direct-current fast chargers annually by 2026. Shares of EVgo jumped nearly 10% on Feb. 15, when the U.S. government announced the new rules for chargers.
EV CHARGING COMPANIES: Many, including Volkswagen's (VOWG_p.DE) Electrify America, ChargePoint(CHPT.N) and EVGo (EVGO.O), will accelerate the rollout of chargers due to the federal funding. U.S. EV AUTO SECTOR: The rollout of more charging stations will encourage EV adoption in the United States. INTERSTATE HIGHWAY REST STOPS: They could see an influx of investment as companies establish charging stations along heavily traveled routes. TESLA: Under the new charging standards, the White House said EV market leader Tesla (TSLA.O) has agreed to open part of its U.S. charging network to EVs made by rivals. EV CHARGING COMPANIES: While the charging companies get financial support in their expansion efforts, only a handful of the dozen who commented to the Biden administration ahead of Wednesday's announcement said that they could meet the "Buy American" standards under the proposed timelines.
