Dr. Martens is a brand of footwear known for its yellow stitching and patented air-cushioned soles. The brand was adopted by British punk rockers in the 1970s, but went mainstream during the grunge movement of the 1990s. Shares of Dr. Martens plunged 30% on Tuesday to hit a record low in early deals, after the shoemaker flagged a challenging 2025 outlook on the back of weaker revenues. Trading in the company shares was temporarily suspended on the London Stock Exchange after the firm issued an unscheduled trading update. In a Tuesday note, analysts at RBC flagged a negative sentiment on the stock and said that markets would focus on the 2025 guidance in the short term.

This last scene in the June 2007 finale of "The Sopranos" featured almost the entirety of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'." For such a massive hit, “Don’t Stop Believin’” is sort of a curious tune. Pop open the “documentaries” section of your friendly local streaming service, and a bevy of movies about celebrities will greet you. Rockers, politicians, artists, authors, athletes — increasingly everyone you’ve heard of has a documentary, and probably served as a producer on it, too. The appeal of such films is obvious: If you like someone already, you get to hear them talk about themselves. If you know you should like someone, then you’ve got a quick introduction to set you on your way to fandom. The best of these movies tend to do more than tell us about the subject — they tell us what the subject means, in a cultural sense.

Now, almost exactly a year later, she's releasing her first rock ‘n’ roll album, appropriately titled “Rockstar," on Friday. Some are being told they need to pay more than $100 out of pocket because their insurance provider isn't covering the shots yet. Most Walgreens stores have enough supply for existing appointments and more slots are being made available as the shots come in, a spokesperson said. Previously, the government purchased the shots and distributed them to pharmacies, doctor's offices and other providers. That leaves pharmacies like his fielding calls and explaining they can't administer shots yet if they wanted to. A notice on Walgreens' website said appointments for children under 12 years old won't start until Friday, Sept. 29.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK Contemporary rocking chairs, affectionately known as ‘Mod Rockers,’ tend to have sexier, bolder designs than their stiff wooden antecedents. Photo: living4mediaTHE PORCH ROCKING CHAIR: It’s an American classic on par with apple pie, the Louisville Slugger and the folksy works of Norman Rockwell. But given how few of us have Rockwellian homes and families, or porches that offer bucolic views, the traditional wooden seat—rigid and staid—can feel out of place in our urban outdoor spaces. Rocking chairs are “designed and built so well,” said New York interior designer Tina Ramchandani. “[They] just needed an updated look.”

Seymour Stein received the Howie Richmond Hitmaker Award at a Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. When the Ramones began rattling Lower Manhattan with jackhammer songs like “Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue” and “Blitzkrieg Bop” in the mid-1970s, many record industry executives reached for their earplugs. Seymour Stein heard the potential in what soon became known as punk rock. Mr. Stein signed the skinny rockers to Sire Records, a scrappy little record label he had co-founded a decade earlier and later sold to what is now Warner Music Group . Over the next 25 years or so, he signed a host of other stars, including Talking Heads, the Pretenders and Ice-T.
LONDON, Feb 23 (Reuters) - British singer-songwriter Harry Styles added to his Grammy and BRIT Awards triumphs on Thursday when his chart-topping hit "As It Was" won the IFPI Global Single Award for 2022, the recorded music industry representative body said. The prize is given to the music artist scoring the world’s best-selling single of the year across all digital formats. The synth-pop track, from Styles' third studio album "Harry's House", was released in April and topped charts around the world. "Harry's House" won album of the year both there and at the Grammys. “Harry first received an IFPI Award as part of One Direction when we first launched the IFPI Global Recording Artist Chart 10 years ago," IFPI Chief Executive Frances Moore said in a statement.

REUTERS/Henry Nicholls/PoolLONDON, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Hitmakers gather in London on Saturday for Britain's pop music honours, the BRIT awards, where an all-male contender list for the artist of the year prize has cast a shadow over the event's introduction of gender-neutral categories. But it added that organisers "acknowledge and share in the disappointment" of no women making the list. "A key factor is that, unfortunately, there were relatively few commercially successful releases by women in 2022 compared to those by men." We recognise this points to wider issues around the representation of women in music that must also be addressed." Last year, women won prizes in 10 of the awards' 15 categories.

Tom Verlaine, who redefined rock guitar in the punk era of the 1970s with his band Television, died Saturday in Manhattan. Tom Verlaine’s soloing (and Richard Lloyd‘s as well, of course) showed me you could be a virtuoso and dangerous at the same time, more Coltrane or Ornette than the arena rockers of the day. In 2007, Lloyd was replaced in the touring unit by Jimmy Ripp, who had for many years supported Verlaine on his solo albums and tours. Only after his twin brother John played the Rolling Stones’ “19th Nervous Breakdown” and other contemporary rock records for him did Miller rethink his preferred instrument. Though he always boasted a devoted cult fan base, Verlaine never succeeded in attaining a commercial foothold on the charts; his 1981 sophomore solo album “Dreamtime,” his lone entry, peaked at No.

Like Chuck Berry's guitar, Lewis' piano was essential in shaping rock 'n' roll in the mid-1950s. "Jerry Lee thinks that Jerry Lee is too wicked to be saved." His young son Steve Allen Lewis drowned in 1962 and another son, Jerry Lee Jr., died in a 1973 car accident at 19. In his later years he settled down but biographer Rick Bragg recalled interviewing Lewis for his 2014 book "Jerry Lee Lewis: His Own Words." "I don't think Jerry Lee Lewis had to exaggerate his life one bit to make it interesting," Bragg told the Atlanta Constitution Journal.
