MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — No law enforcement officers will face criminal charges in the death of a man who fled a traffic stop in the Minneapolis suburb of Robbinsdale. The death was ruled an accidental drowning, prosecutors said Monday. Black Lives Matter of Minnesota released a statement in February saying Azad's family believed he was bitten by police dogs and beaten by officers. Moriarty said the BCA's investigation established that Azad's death was a “tragic accidental drowning." "The BCA uncovered no evidence that any member of law enforcement had any physical contact with Khalil after the initial traffic stop,” Moriarty said.

A Minnesota hospital agreed to pay $180,000 to a woman who said the hospital refused to hire her for a job because she is deaf. Vogt said that in July 2020 she applied for a role as a greeter at North Memorial Health. The manager told Vogt that they would need to contact North Memorial Health about her disability, the suit said. A spokesperson for North Memorial Health could not immediately be reached Wednesday. The hospital said it was never given a name for the candidate and has no knowledge of what the manager told Vogt.
MINNEAPOLIS — Thousands of nurses in Minnesota launched a three-day strike Monday, complaining of low salaries and understaffing worsened by the strains of the coronavirus pandemic. Minnesota Nurses Association president Mary Turner said pay raises are necessary to address the “crisis of retention” that would otherwise leave the hospitals severely understaffed.
