Another sophisticated Russian tank is the T-80BVM, which according to Oryx has suffered at least 150 losses. Russian Defense Ministry Press Service via APZakon did not specify on T-90 variants when he compared the American-made Abrams to Russian armor. Turning the tide in the Black SeaSwedish Marines also operate the CB90-class fast assault craft. Following a six-month effort by Steel Front and Ukrainian steel giant Metinvest, the three vessels and crew training for Ukrainian forces cost more than $4.1 million. In total, Sweden has provided at least 13 CB90s to Ukraine's navy. The Netherlands donated nearly two dozen inflatable and armored boats, including three CB90s, to Ukraine in March. It wasn't immediately clear what type of vessels were sent, but Finnish media speculated them to operate similarly to the Swedish CB-90.

However, one Ukrainian company is building steel screens that can offer the tanks an extra layer of protection. For more than a year and a half, the company has been making protective steel screens for Kyiv's aging T-64 and T-72 tanks. For weeks, they fended off Russian assaults, holed up in a vast steel mill under barrages of missiles and mortars. And when the Ukrainian troops defending the Azovstal plant finally surrendered in May 2022, the mill had been reduced to rubble and twisted metal. It was also a major setback for Ukraine’s richest man, the plant’s owner. With the destruction of Azovstal, the owner, Rinat Akhmetov, lost an industrial jewel accounting for one-fifth of Ukraine’s steel output — a multibillion dollar loss that dealt a severe blow to his longtime grip on the Ukrainian economy. Mr. Akhmetov’s case underlines how the war, by ravaging Ukrainian industry, has curbed the power of the country’s so-called oligarchs, tycoons who have long reigned over the economy and used their wealth to buy political influence, experts say.

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Just playing is a small victory for Shakhtar Donetsk, though the Ukrainian champions won't stop there. The Ukrainian league restarted a year ago despite the war but all games are played in empty stadiums — and sometimes interrupted by air-raid sirens. For the second straight season, Shakhtar is playing its Champions League games outside of Ukraine because of the Russian invasion. “When we drew with England (in a national team game on Sept. 9), I really got a lot of messages from the soldiers. Despite the wealth behind Shakhtar, the club won't give up hope of returning to play in Donetsk some day, Chygrynskyy said.

Ukraine's decoys are getting more and more convincing, with the latest an elaborate radar array. Ukrainian company Metinvest said Russia had blasted one of its dummy P-18 radars with a missile. Ukrainian media said pro-Russian sites were sharing a video of the strike, unaware it was a fake. It's the latest win claimed by Metinvest, a Ukrainian steel company that, among other things, manufactures detailed decoys for use by the country's armed forces. Metinvest did not give the date or location of the reported strike, and Insider was unable to independently confirm the Russian video.

REUTERS/Ammar AwadLACHISH FOREST, Israel Dec 20 (Reuters) - Excavations of a cave reputed to be the burial place of Salome, said in non-canonical scripture to have been nurse to the newborn Jesus, have found more signs it was both an important Jewish tomb and a Christian pilgrimage site, archaelogists say. Stricken in one arm, she cradles the baby, proclaims him "a great king ... born unto Israel," and is cured. The site, about 35 km (22 miles) southwest of Bethlehem, has been known for generations as the Cave of Salome. Earlier excavations located Jewish relics "but the surprise was the adaptation of the cave into a Christian chapel," the IAA said.

REUTERS/Rony Levinson/FilesMAAGAN MICHAEL, Israel, Sept 22 (Reuters) - An ancient shipwreck found off the shore of Israel and loaded with cargo from all over the Mediterranean shows that traders from the West still came to port even after the Islamic conquest of the Holy Land, researchers say. The excavation is backed by the Israel Science Foundation, Honor Frost Foundation and the Institute of Nautical Archaeology at Texas A&M University. SHIP GRAVEYARD IN SHALLOW SEASThe coast of Israel is abundant with ships that sank over the millennia. A storm might shift the sands and expose a relic, which is what happened with the new discovery at Maagan Michael. Some of the cargo bore symbols of the Christian Byzantine church and others had writing in Arabic.
KYIV, July 11 (Reuters) - Ukraine's richest man, Rinat Akhmetov, said on Monday his investment company would exit its vast media business to conform with a law designed to curb the influence of "oligarchs", a move cheered by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's office. In a statement sent to Reuters, Akhmetov said Media Group Ukraine would hand over the licences for its television channels and print media to the Ukrainian state, and cease online media, describing his decision tersely as "involuntary". "I made an involuntary decision that my investment company SCM will exit its media business," Akhmetov said, citing the legislation. Akhmetov said his SCM investment company was unable to sell its media business on market terms because of Russia's war in Ukraine and a six-month deadline given by the anti-oligarch legislation for the sale of media assets. Media Group Ukraine includes an array of television channels including Ukraine and Ukraine 24 that are among the most viewed in the country.
