Bottom row, from left, Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Associate Justice Clarence Thomas, Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts, Associate Justice Samuel Alito, and Associate Justice Elena Kagan. Top row, from left, Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch, Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. And environmental attorneys are intrigued by Barrett, who has had some tough questions for EPA’s challengers during recent Supreme Court arguments. The Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that the EPA can use its authority to regulate greenhouse gases. That gives the agency the recent Congressional direction the Supreme Court has said it so badly needs, some experts said.

Once she graduated, Regan was offered an internship at a company based in Paris in 2022, providing her with the opportunity to live in the French capital. She says that she initially anticipated living and working in the European city for a year or two. However, when Regan fell for a Frenchman named Julien, who she married in 2007, her fate was seemingly sealed. She credits this, at least partly, to the French healthcare system, which provides universal coverage for all legal residents. Courtesy Melissa Regan“I was really shocked by the price increase in inflation of groceries, for example,” she says.

There was no active arrest warrant, but the troopers checked in with Ramsey County officials, who asked that Cobb be arrested. Londregan arrived and went to Cobb’s passenger door while Seide approached the driver’s side of Cobb’s car, according to the complaint. Michael Regan, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, speaks at the CERAWeek conference in Houston, Texas, March 9. Photo: Aaron M. Sprecher/Bloomberg NewsIn politics, inadvertently telling the truth is called a “gaffe.” Last year Michael Regan , administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, made a remark in passing that gave away the Biden administration’s plans for enforcing its climate agenda through a “suite of rules” imposed under programs lacking any credible connection to climate. A few months later, a Supreme Court opinion transformed Mr. Regan’s indiscretion into justification for wholesale judicial repudiation of the Biden administration’s climate regulatory blitz.

GETTING TO the Milkweed Inn, run by chef Iliana Regan and her sommelier wife, Anna Hamlin, is not easy. The drive from Chicago to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula takes six hours, ultimately on rutted dirt roads deep inside the Hiawatha National Forest. And that’s if you’re able to get a room in the first place. The 2023 season and much of 2024’s are already sold out. There is some consolation, however, for fans who have followed Ms. Regan’s career from her Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant, Elizabeth, now closed, through her 2019 memoir, “Burn the Place,” an unflinching account of her farmhouse upbringing, her grappling with addiction and gender identity, and her emergence as a chef: Her new book, “Fieldwork” (Agate Midway), comes out Jan. 24.
