New York CNN —Donald Trump can’t quit Fox News. Comparatively, Trump posted 26 video clips from the upstart internet streamer Right Side Broadcasting Network, 11 videos from the pro-Trump cable channel Newsmax, and 5 from the far-right Real America’s Voice. He posted eight links to Real America’s Voice, only three to Breitbart, and one to the New York Post. Indeed, Polskin’s analysis pulls back the curtain on how Trump works the media. The warped feedback loop is yet another way in which he exploits the media for his own ends.

CNN —In the wake of Hunter Biden’s conviction on federal gun charges Tuesday, right-wing media personalities sought to downplay the jury’s decision, falsely claiming the case was a “fake trial” designed to “cover up” other supposed crimes committed by the president and his family. “Hunter Biden guilty. For others in the right-wing sphere, it’s simple; Trump’s case was a political hit job while Hunter Biden’s case was a clear case of someone breaking the law. “Hunter Biden is convicted of an actual crime. “The Hunter Biden gun conviction is kinda dumb tbh,” Florida GOP Rep. Israel organized and paid for an influence campaign last year targeting U.S. lawmakers and the American public with pro-Israel messaging, as it aimed to foster support for its actions in the war with Gaza, according to officials involved in the effort and documents related to the operation. The covert campaign was commissioned by Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, a government body that connects Jews around the world with the State of Israel, four Israeli officials said. The campaign began in October and remains active on the platform X. At its peak, it used hundreds of fake accounts that posed as real Americans on X, Facebook and Instagram to post pro-Israel comments. The campaign also created three fake English-language news sites featuring pro-Israel articles.

CNN —Judge Juan Merchan has found former President Donald Trump in contempt for violating the gag order in his hush money trial for the 10th time and said he’ll consider jail time going forward. Last week, the judge fined Trump $9,000 for nine previous violations of the judge’s gag order. Violations of the gag order are punishable by a fine of up to $1,000, by jail time of up to 30 days, or both. In a statement, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung called the gag order “unconstitutional and un-American” and criticized the judge and his ruling. In a written ruling, the judge said those comments violated the gag order.

But in seeking recently to win Jewish voters’ support, Mr. Trump has repeatedly castigated American Jews who do not support his candidacy as insufficiently loyal to Israel. The lockdown saw sales of sewing machines soar and stock sell out. Most people (OK, most women) who attended public junior high schools in the 1960s, 1970s or even 1980s learned at least basic sewing skills and could advance them with elective classes in high school. After all, Joann, known as Jo-Ann Fabrics back when home sewing was more in style, is reorganizing its finances, not closing its 800-plus stores nationwide. The ex-president will be in Eagle Pass, scene of a border showdown between the Biden administration and Texas Republican Gov. “He spent three years not going to the border,” Trump told Real America’s Voice Tuesday. With an early morning social media post on Friday, Trump inserted himself into the chaotic race to replace Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker by backing Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan for the post. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted 335-91 to adopt a 45-day stopgap measure hours before funding for federal agencies was set to expire. Republican Representative Andy Biggs, a leading hardliner, asked on the social platform X, formerly known as Twitter. Republican Representative Matt Gaetz, who has openly threatened such action, made clear what it would take days before the Saturday vote. Republican Representative Brian Fitzpatrick, who co-chairs the bipartisan Problem Solvers' Caucus, said bipartisanship itself would be the real issue in any vote on McCarthy's future. Some Democrats have suggested they could support McCarthy if an ouster attempt occurred at a turbulent time.

CNN —Will former President Donald Trump accept a plea deal, potentially sparing himself prison and sparing us all a repeat of his presidency? It’s a compelling argument, and one that would certainly be better for the nation than Trump winning in 2024 and pardoning himself; it would be better for Trump than winding up behind bars. Trump has been embroiled in thousands of lawsuits; he’s the first former president to face federal charges. Betting on a 2024 win is a big gamble for Trump, especially if the consequence of that loss isn’t just humiliation, but a jail cell. Join us on Twitter and FacebookThere is also the question of whether prosecutors would even offer a deal Trump might consider.

Republicans and a few Democrats have voted to overturn Biden's student-loan forgiveness. Democrats defend Biden's student-loan forgiveness as part of a broader workforce development strategy to address the ongoing labor shortage and rebuild the middle class. "Student loan 'forgiveness' will benefit wealthy elites," Rep. Jim Jordan tweeted when Biden announced his student-loan forgiveness plan in August 2022. This week, Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he can solve the Ukraine war in 24 hours. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he has no idea what Trump is talking about. Hill Republicans are increasingly voicing their issues with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Sen. The Department of Transportation has defended Buttigieg's performance in handling recent crises. Secretary Buttigieg has been a vocal champion of President Biden's bipartisan infrastructure law. Rep. Jason Smith, who represents southeastern Missouri, said his policies will focus on ‘real Americans’ over large corporations. Jason Smith (R., Mo. ), the House’s new top tax writer, is promoting an approach he says would favor working-class Americans over large corporations, a shift in tone from his predecessors that raises questions about companies’ ability to push tax cuts through Congress. In speeches, interviews and a 10-year voting record in Congress, Mr. Smith has been a steady supporter of Republican tax cuts, and he says that basic approach isn’t changing. As chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, he says the needs of farmers, small businesses and working-class Americans should come first when setting policy.
Former President Donald Trump accused evangelical leaders of disloyalty for not yet endorsing him in 2024. Evangelical Christian leaders appear to be holding back on supporting Trump for the GOP nomination. In October, Trump praised evangelicals for being more "appreciative" of his work than American Jews. During an interview on the right-wing fringe network Real America's Voice, Trump was asked about the lack of endorsements from evangelical leaders for his 2024 presidential campaign. In 2021, Trump also told an Israeli journalist that "evangelical Christians love Israel more than the Jews in this country."
The warrant also indicated that the Justice Department was investigating whether Trump violated three federal laws, including the Espionage Act, related to the handling of national security information. Here are some possibilities:The investigations conclude with no charges filedIn the US's 250-year history, no ex-commander in chief has ever faced criminal charges. In all, the former president, if convicted, would be facing up to 33 years of incarceration, according to legal experts. That begs the question: If Trump is charged, convicted, and winds up in prison, can he still run for president in 2024? He made headlines during his presidency for wondering why he couldn't have "my guys" at the "Trump Justice Department" do his bidding.
