Stellantis said it would reduce inventory levels in the United States and ship 200,000 fewer vehicles to North American dealers in the second half of 2024 than in the same period last year. Volkswagen said earlier this month that around 2 million fewer cars are being sold in Europe per year compared with pre-pandemic levels. Volkswagen itself is selling 500,000 fewer cars annually in the region, the equivalent of around two car plants. “To remain competitively viable, we have to comprehensively restructure Volkswagen… because the situation is serious,” the company said last week. “Volkswagen has to increase efficiency and reduce costs.”For Stellantis, Monday’s profit warning is the latest piece of bad news.

General Ryder said that 569 metric tons of aid had made it onto Gaza’s shore but that those supplies had yet to be parceled out by humanitarian organizations. Israel not only seized the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt but also closed the Kerem Shalom crossing into Israel. Though Israel has since reopened Kerem Shalom, only 69 trucks have entered Gaza through it in the past two weeks, according to U.N. data. That is far fewer than the number of aid trucks that were entering through the two southern border crossings before Israeli troops went into Rafah. The United Nations estimates that trucks carrying food to Gaza have been loaded with roughly 15 to 30 metric tons each.

General Ryder said that 569 metric tons of aid had made it onto Gaza’s shore but that those supplies had yet to be parceled out by humanitarian organizations. On Saturday, hungry crowds looted several World Food Program trucks transporting aid that had been delivered through the pier, prompting the agency to suspend deliveries of aid arriving at the pier on Sunday and Monday. That is a far less than the number of aid trucks that were entering through the two southern border crossings before Israeli troops went into Rafah. The 569 metric tons that have arrived at the pier so far are a fraction of the amount of aid that was entering Gaza through land routes before Israel seized the Rafah crossing. The United Nations estimates that trucks carrying food to Gaza have been loaded with roughly 15 to 30 metric tons each.

New York CNN —The longest US auto strike this century is over after a pretty clear win for the United Auto Workers union at all three unionized automakers. “I don’t like what I’ve seen in my work career with the UAW leadership, where they were too damn close to the companies,” UAW President Shawn Fain told CNN earlier this month. So I like to let the body of work speak for itself.”The success of those contracts is the reason that Shawn Fain is CNN Business’ labor leader of the year. All told nearly 800,000 union members got raises of 10% or more during 2023. The plant will be be reopened under the agreement reached between Stellantis and the UAW to end the union's strike at the company.

Selling more hybrid and electric trucks and improving the fuel efficiency of Ram combustion models is critical to Chrysler parent Stellantis. A Hemi V-8 will still be offered in Ram heavy-duty trucks. The company has not disclosed future production plans for light-duty Ram Classic trucks, which are based on previous generation Ram designs. Stellantis has previously said it will sell an all-electric Ram pickup called the Ram Rev starting in late 2024. The all-electric Ram REV has a 168 kWh battery pack in the base model that costs thousands more.

“I don’t know why Jim Farley is lying about the state of negotiations," Fain said in a statement responding to the Ford CEO. The UAW wants those workers represented by the union and paid the highest-tier wages. Workers went on strike on Sept. 15 at one plant each from GM, Ford and Stellantis. UAW workers are threatening to walk off the job at heavy truck maker Mack Trucks on Sunday, and at three Detroit casinos. A UAW strike has shut down a plant that builds axles for Mercedes-Benz's Alabama vehicle factory.

"Despite our willingness to bargain Ford and GM have refused to make meaningful progress," Fain said in a video address Friday morning. It began on Sept. 15, when workers struck at one plant each from GM, Ford and Stellantis. The UAW did not strike at Ford distribution facilities last week, citing progress in talks with that company. Analysts estimate GM, Ford and Stellantis earn as much as $15,000 per vehicle on each of their respective large pickup truck models. The Ford assembly plant in Chicago builds the Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs, while the GM plant in Lansing makes the Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave SUVs.

DETROIT, Sept 29 (Reuters) - United Auto Workers union President Shawn Fain is expected to launch walkouts at more Detroit Three auto factories Friday, barring last-minute progress in bargaining that has moved slowly since last week. Talks among the UAW and negotiators for the Detroit Three were described as "very active" by one person briefed on the situation. The union has shut one assembly plant at each of the Detroit Three, and 38 parts distribution centers at GM and Stellantis. However, strikes at these plants would have less impact as the models affected are either money-losers or substantially less profitable than the big pickups. The union launched its first walkouts on Sept. 15, with simultaneous strikes at one assembly plant at each automaker.

The UAW had been planning to announce a new strike at Stellantis NV (STLAM.MI), but the company called moments before the scheduled 10 a.m. address and made significant changes in its contract proposal, Fain said. Even after escalating its strike against Detroit automakers on Friday, the United Auto Workers union still has plenty of leverage in its effort to force the companies to agree to significant increases in pay and benefits. The UAW could, if it chose to, vastly expand the number of workers who could strike assembly plants and parts facilities of General Motors, Ford and Stellantis, the owner of the Jeep and Ram brands. All three companies said that talks with the union continued on Saturday, though officials said they expected no major announcements. In expanding the strike on Friday, the UAW struck only the parts-distribution centers of GM and Stellantis. Ford was spared from the latest walkouts because of progress that company has made in negotiations with the union, said UAW President Shawn Fain.

Companies Stellantis NV FollowApril 19 (Reuters) - Stellantis will recall 131,700 Ram 1500 pickup trucks manufactured in 2021 due to a powertrain software issue, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) website showed on Wednesday. The issue may cause the pickup trucks with 5.7L eTorque engines to stall due to an incorrect fuel mixture condition, according to the NHTSA. "The company is unaware of any related injuries," Stellantis said in an emailed statement, adding that there was only one report of a vehicle crash potentially related to this condition. Dealers will update the powertrain control module software on the impacted vehicles for free, according to the NHTSA. Stellantis in February recalled 340,000 diesel Ram trucks to replace an electrical connector after reports of six fires.
DETROIT – A defective battery that caused a Ford F-150 Lightning in the company's possession to catch fire earlier this month isn't the only problem the Detroit automaker has recently experienced with its new all-electric pickup truck. For Ford, the F-150 Lightning problems are part of ongoing quality and operational issues, as outlined by CEO Jim Farley to investors days before the fire occurred in a Ford holding yard. The amount of "customer service actions" Ford has issued for the F-150 Lightning since its launch in April 2022 was not immediately available. The F-150 Lightning is being closely watched by investors, as it's the first mainstream electric pickup truck on the market and a major launch for Ford. Ford does not release production data for the F-150 Lightning, however the company sold more than 2,200 of the vehicles last month.

Ram 1500 Revolution BEV electric concept pickup truck Stellantis"This is a vision, or a glimpse, into the future of Ram Trucks," Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. told CNBC. Stellantis is recalling about 1.4 million pickup trucks worldwide because the tailgates may not close completely and cargo could spill onto the road. The recall covers Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups from the 2019 to 2022 model years. The company, formerly Fiat Chrysler, says it found that striker plates on the pickups may not be lined up right to allow complete closure. Most of the recalled trucks are in North America. Pickups with “multi-function tailgates,” the Ram 1500 Classic, and trucks with sensors that alert drivers to unsecured tailgates are not affected by the recall, the company says.
