PARIS, France — There will be no magical run, no age- and injury-defying push into the deep end of the competition. AdvertisementThe end officially arrived at 6:28, with a final miss off the Spaniard’s racket, forced by Alexander Zverev, who prevailed 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. A clump of two dozen that is used to getting choice seats clogged the entryway to the president’s box. Ultimately, that is what doomed him on a chilly and dreary afternoon and evening under the roof on Chatrier. He hit serves that became easy chances for Zverev to go on the defensive, and groundstrokes into the middle of the court that Zverev pounded for winners.

Fans streamed through the gates, packing Roland Garros, lining up for crepes and champagne and Aperol spritzes. If that latter court is his living room, then the grounds at Roland Garros are his estate. Ever since then, Zverev has wanted another shot at playing Nadal at Roland Garros — though not in the first round, more like a semifinal or a final. The idea of playing Nadal on this clay sends chills through the spines of so many players. In 2022, I remember he came into Roland Garros not winning Monte Carlo, not winning Madrid, not winning Rome.

But one that could foreshadow India's growth story. Can Teleperformance's stock plunge be the canary in the coal mine for what is likely to happen to India because of AI? But it's likely to be a blip for India's growth trajectory, given the macro forces at play. Besides creating jobs that are less likely to be immediately disrupted by AI, India could also be a net beneficiary of artificial intelligence. The Indian stock market indexes, Sensex and Nifty 50 , are heading for a positive week again — up by 1% and 1.2%, respectively.

‘Challengers’: Normcore Clothes on Sweaty Bodies

This week “Challengers,” Luca Guadagnino’s film about love, lust and tennis, finally hit theaters after being delayed by the actor’s strike last fall. Starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist as racket prodigies reunited by fate and tournaments, with costumes by Jonathan Anderson (designer of Loewe, his own JW Anderson line and many Uniqlo collabs), it is a romp through competitions and clothes. Vanessa Friedman Aesthetics — clothes, colors, design — have always been important in Luca Guadagnino’s movies, but “Challengers” is the first time he has collaborated with a single fashion designer: Jonathan Anderson. Jessica Testa Well, it’s not often you see a major fashion designer step into a film costume designer role. VF I loved the whole pop-art aesthetic of the movie, but I can’t say any of the clothes screamed “JWA” to me.

CNN —In tennis, “love” means nothing. Back in the present, Tashi is Art’s wife and coach, having lost her own career to a devastating knee injury. Even using the sport as a metaphor, “Challengers” might become a bit of a challenge for those who show up eager to see the principals sweat for different reasons. Because she’s playing more complicated angles, Zendaya’s Tashi is the most interesting character as well as a source of frustration. While the build-up proves effective, the payoff simply feels too precious, in a way that’s particularly unsatisfying.

Hiring a life coach at age 31 and understanding what it means to 'invest in yourself'While I wasn't actively seeking advice in my 20s, my job as a personal finance reporter meant I was regularly surrounded by money, career, and life advice. My job involved talking to financial planners about smart money moves and to self-made millionaires about how to build wealth. Courtesy of Kathleen ElkinsIn August 2023, weeks after turning 31 and after a nine-year hiatus from having a coaching figure in my life, I hired a life coach. How is a life coach different from a therapist? It's the easiest money I "spend" every month because it doesn't feel like spending — it feels like (and is) an investment.

Club holding Wells Fargo will post quarterly results on Friday, followed by our other financial holding, Morgan Stanley, on Tuesday. In theory, higher borrowing costs mean Wells Fargo can generate more money from those interest-earning assets, but it's not that simple. It's hard to say with the fluid inflation and rate expectations whether Wells Fargo might change its NII outlook when it reports on Friday. Khachanov, as a result, earned two break points and would eventually capitalize on the second, thanks to a Medvedev double fault. 4 was frustrated with two calls from the line judge on his baseline while serving at 1-2 in the second set. On a cold January afternoon in Roscrea, a market town of around 5,500 people in rural Ireland, news began to spread that the town’s only remaining hotel would close temporarily — to provide housing for 160 asylum seekers. Almost immediately, speculation and anger began to swirl online. Posts to a local Facebook group blamed the closure on the government and on “non-nationals” moving in. That night, dozens of people showed up for an improvised protest that has divided the town and become a monthslong symbol of growing anti-immigration sentiment across Ireland. A small group of locals have kept a constant presence in the hotel parking lot since then, using a tent as protection from the rain and a metal drum as a firepit.

Why Power Eludes the French Left
  + stars: | 2024-03-06 | by ( Elisabeth Zerofsky | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
As transit walkouts snarled traffic and sanitation strikes caused trash to pile up in the streets, the protests were ridiculed abroad. Why must the French, among the best-protected workers in the Western world, make such a racket over two years of work? But for the demonstrators, this missed the point: It is because French workers put up a fight that they are protected. France has always been a vanguard of leftist politics. How it fares says much about where the left may be headed and the headwinds it faces, not just in France but throughout the West.
