Cheating in India's medical entrance examCheating has, in particular, plagued India's highly competitive medical entrance exam, also known as the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). "Question papers are sold at extravagantly high prices," Ashok Rathore, a police officer who investigated cheating linked to India's medical school exam, told the Journal. The person said they can provide next year's medical entrance exam questions for around 1 lakh rupees ($1,200). Those with money can still legally obtain places in private medical colleges if they pay fees ranging from $115,000 to $145,000. Toh Hong Keng/Henry Ahn Photo StudioHis family constantly checked on him, helping to dispel many waves of doubt. “The only reason why I decided to study medicine was because I wanted something useful to do,” he said. “If I can’t be a practicing doctor, at least I can look after myself somewhat,” he said. Feeling a little dejected, he got in touch with his family’s former domestic worker whose daughter recently graduated from medical school in the Philippines. A week later, in 2019 he packed his bags, found a small apartment on the island and started his medical school journey.

When people ask Dr. Jordan Shlain to describe his medical practice, he says simply: "It's a family office for your health." Rather than simply offering on-call doctors and faster visits, Private Medical has pioneered a highly personalized, all-in-one service that's more akin to the most sophisticated family offices for investments. Like family offices, Private Medical has an in-house team to manage a family's entire health portfolio – from fitness and dietary tracking to longevity research, surgeries and medical emergencies. Private Medical doesn't advertise and gets most of its business through referrals. Shlain declined to give specifics on price, but clients of Private Medical say it charges $40,000 a year for each adult patient and $25,000 per patient under the age of 18.

Johnson & Johnson forecasts as much as 6% sales growth in 2024

Dec 5 (Reuters) - Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) on Tuesday forecast revenue growth of 5-6% for the next year, as it banks on strong demand for cancer treatments Darzalex and Carvykti and resilient sales of blockbuster drug Stelara. The company has narrowed its focus on its drugs and medical devices business since it hived off its consumer health unit earlier this year. Sales of blockbuster psoriasis treatment Stelara in Europe are expected to come under pressure as early as next year as a key patent on the drug expires. Sales of the drug largely come from its use as a treatment for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Wolk said. J&J's 2024 revenue growth forecast excludes sales of its COVID vaccine.

London CNN —Britain’s High Court ruled Friday that the Duke of Sussex’s court case against the publisher of the Daily Mail newspaper over alleged unlawful information gathering can continue. In the High Court ruling, Justice Nicklin said ANL failed to deliver a “knockout blow” to any of the claims brought by the claimants. “We intend to uncover the truth at trial and hold those responsible at Associated Newspapers fully accountable,” the statement continued. ANL said in a statement Friday that it continues to firmly deny the allegations brought against the firm. The statement described the accusations as “lurid claims” and “simply preposterous.”The suit is just one of several that the Duke of Sussex has brought against major UK newspaper publishers, including Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers and Mirror Group Newspapers.

The tech industry’s hostility to aging “continues to violate common sense,” Joseph Coughlin, the director of M.I.T.’s AgeLab, told me. Through advances focused on health care, home assistance, transportation, robotics and artificial intelligence, technology will be crucial to address the problems emerging from demographic imbalance. “And yet they continue to ignore them.”What can Silicon Valley do for older people? Many of these promise to allow older people a measure of independence from family caregivers or health care facilities. There are companies that use in-home cameras, audio devices and biometric sensors to let health care providers monitor homebound seniors from afar, something like Life Alert for the digital age.

Millions of Americans lost legal access to abortion after the overturn of Roe v. Wade. The GOP used state ballot initiatives banning same-sex marriage to juice turnout, including in the critical state of Ohio. "The majority of Arizonans support safe, legal abortion, and we need to roll back many of the restrictions that are in place now." Two abortion rights groups are teaming up to put the question before voters in 2024. The ballot box might also be abortion rights advocates' best hope as the unicameral legislature appears to be on the verge of breaking a filibuster to pass a 6-week abortion ban.
Private hospital groups flourishTo keep up with growing demand for their services, private health care providers are expanding at a rapid clip. CEO Justin Ash estimates that the market for private health care in the United Kingdom has doubled since before the pandemic to 15 million people. Ash said that appetite for private health care spans a much broader set of ages and incomes than in the past. “We’ve clearly moved into a world in which we’re all NHS patients but have episodes of private care,” he said. There is no universal health care in America and most people have private health insurance because health care is very expensive.
