CNN —A spate of Quran-burning protests in Sweden and Denmark has caused angry demonstrations in Muslim-majority countries, heightened security fears at home and left both Scandinavian nations questioning whether they need to review their liberal laws on freedom of speech. But both countries signaled Sunday that they are exploring legal ways to prevent such protests, amid security and geopolitical concerns. While freedom of speech has long been a constitutional right in Sweden and Denmark, the scrapping of blasphemy laws was a more recent development. But neither country tightened their free speech laws in response to these attacks. “Sweden is right now the target of influence campaigns, supported by states and state-like actors, whose purpose is to harm Sweden and Swedish interests,” said Bohlin.

An application submitted to the Swedish Sports Confederation (RF by its initials in Swedish) to introduce a group called “The Swedish Sex Federation” as a sport was denied, contrary to claims shared online that Sweden has declared it would hold championships for sex. One post (here) reads, in part, “Sweden has officially declared sex as a sport and finalized arrangements to launch its maiden sex tournament on Thursday, June 8.”Other examples can be seen (here) and (here). Swedish publication Goteborgs-Posten reported on April 26, 2023 (here) that Dragan Bratic, a man who formed “The Swedish Sex Federation,” submitted an application for the organization to become a part of the RF in January 2023. “It is false information with the aim of smearing Swedish sports and Sweden.”“There is no Sex Federation that is a member of the Swedish Sports Confederation,” Setzman added. "There will be a temporary break in production," Merhawit Habte, press spokesperson at Volvo Cars told GP, adding the factory will be closed for one week. "It is the ongoing problem with semiconductor shortages."
