And it’s now been sold at auction for more than $700,000. “Often mistakenly referred to as a door, the ornate structure was in reality part of the door frame just above the first-class lounge entrance,” Heritage Auctions wrote in the auction notes. Heritage Auctions described the prop as “king of the auction,” in a wry nod to the movie's script. There was no additional testing of these theories on the prop itself prior to its sale, as the auction house chooses to “handle all items with great care when in transit and in storage,” Heritage Auctions told CNN. “What you’re seeing is this massive interest in the films of the 1980s and 1990s,” said Joe Maddalena, executive vice president of Heritage Auctions, in a statement.

At the end of the movie “Titanic,” Rose floats atop an ornately decorated piece of a door frame as her beloved Jack clings to its edge, holding her hand. In reality, the ocean was a tank that held 17 million gallons of water. And the door frame? The wood panel sold at auction for $718,750 on Saturday, part of a trove of memorabilia from Planet Hollywood. Heritage Auctions said in a statement that the event “shattered expectations” and set a record for the company’s auctions of movie props and costumes, drawing more than 5,500 bidders from around the world.

New York CNN —A man is suing Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant after his wife, a New York-based doctor, died suddenly shortly after eating at the restaurant. The 19-page lawsuit alleges the wait staff was negligent toward his wife’s severe food allergies. According to the lawsuit, Kanokporn Tangsuan, her husband Jeffrey Piccolo and Piccolo’s mother dined at Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs — which is part of the Walt Disney World resort — in October 2023. Some of the food delivered lacked allergen-free flags, but the waiter again guaranteed the food was allergen free, the lawsuit alleged. The lawsuit also alleges negligence by Disney Parks and Resorts, since it has control over the restaurants and policies at Disney Springs.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — MGM Resorts International, the largest employer on the Las Vegas Strip, was close to reaching a tentative deal with the hotel workers union, the casino company’s CEO said as the clock ticked closer to a union deadline for a sweeping strike. “This deal, when announced, will do just that.”During a break in bargaining, the union’s chief contract negotiator said he welcomed Hornbuckle’s sentiments. The union caught a break at dawn Wednesday when it reached a tentative deal with Caesars that covers 10,000 workers at the company’s flagship Caesars Palace, as well as Flamingo, Harrah’s, Horseshoe, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood, Cromwell and Linq. But experts say a walkout isn’t likely now that the union has a blueprint for a contract after reaching its breakthrough deal with Caesars.
