It’s the backpacker’s call to India, the sunseeker’s attraction to Mexico, and the digital nomad’s drive to get to Thailand: Go where the dollar buys more. The evergreen budget travel strategy is getting a boost this summer: The dollar has surged against a number of foreign currencies, including the Japanese yen, thanks to high interest rates offered by the Federal Reserve — attracting foreign investment, which bolsters the dollar. “A destination’s weaker currency spells greater value for U.S. tourists,” said Erina Pindar, the chief operating officer and managing partner at SmartFlyer, a global travel agency based in New York City. “This economic advantage could make far-flung bucket list destinations in Asia, such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan, or in South America, like Peru, Argentina and Chile, more accessible than ever before,” she added.

Minnie Pindar’s name reappears as Minnie Gilmore in a 1952 marriage license to Scotty Eckford, a union organizer of Black hotel employees in New York City. Mr. Eckford was also the uncle of Elizabeth Eckford, the American civil rights activist who made history in 1957 when she enrolled in the all-white Little Rock Central High School and attended class. Her younger son, Cleveland Gilmore, was 2 on that unseasonably warm November night in 1929. As an adult, he never talked about rent parties, or life in Harlem at all. He would tell us little things, like how he would buy watermelon for a nickel, but I never knew about his family.”The elder Mr. Gilmore died of a brain aneurysm in 2004, when Amir was 14.

May 9 (Reuters) - Purplebricks Group (PURP.L) on Tuesday said its previous expectation of returning to cash generation in early financial year 2024 was unlikely, as Britain's biggest online-only estate agency explores a sale to turn its fortunes around. Purplebricks had a turbulent 2022 as it struggled with implementing a new operating model, saw at least three major management reshuffles and one of its top-10 shareholders - Lecram Holdings - called for the removal of Paul Pindar as chairman. In February, the firm said its board had recognised that the potential of the group may be better realised under an "alternative ownership structure" and had decided to conduct a strategic review. That review would include a formal sale process, the company said in March. Reporting by Radhika Anilkumar in Bengaluru; Editing by Savio D'SouzaOur Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.

Dec 21 (Reuters) - Purplebricks Group PLC (PURP.L), Britain's biggest online-only real estate agency, will cut more than 10% of its workforce as part of a cost-cutting program, The Times reported on Wednesday. Online-only agencies promote properties for sale or letting but leave more of the work to owners. Purplebricks has undergone multiple major management reshuffles this year, including the appointment of Dominique Highfield as its new chief financial officer (CFO) in October. Purplebricks did not immediately respond to a request from Reuters for comment. Reporting by Jyoti Narayan in Bengaluru; Editing by Bradley PerrettOur Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.
