McGowan was part of the inaugural trip from Expatsi, a company that helps Americans move abroad through community groups and weeks-long guided scouting tours. The choose-your-own-stay model can help foster a stronger sense of community among the travel group. Expatsi hosted 30 Americans for a 10-day trip to Portugal and 12-day trip to Spain in May. She says she's still friends with some of the people she met while on the scouting trip while exploring on her own and thrift shopping — her hobby and side hustle.

Going forward, Block will rely on constant evaluations of workers to get past a perception that Block allows staff and managers to "'rest and vest' throughout the company," Dorsey wrote. We will also maintain a small team of dedicated recruiters to help departing Flexport employees look for their next opportunity. This team will work closely with over 300 companies that have expressed an interest in hiring departing Flexporters to match opportunities with impacted employees. The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative conducted layoffs this week, in a major blow to its education team. However, the cuts were entirely focused on employees in tech and grantmaking in CZI's education department, a core pillar of the organization's since its founding. As part of the changes, two leaders in CZI's education work are leaving their roles. While today's announcement most directly impacts our Education teammates, I know we are all affected regardless of where we sit in the organization. I am grateful for all of our Education teammates, past and present, whose contributions made our accomplishments to-date possible and carved our path forward.

Student loan debt has become such an issue that the Biden Administration has been attempting to cancel up to $20,000 in student debt per eligible borrower and has continually extended the student loan repayment pause. Ways employers are currently assisting with student debt management"Employers are increasingly offering student loan contribution plans as a direct way to help borrowers pay down student loan debt," Scruggs says. How other employers can help employees manage student loan debtOne of the simplest and most affordable ways employers can help employees is to share information on what employees need to know about their student loans. "There are many ways to help employees manage and pay down student loan debt. However, note that if you refinance federal student loans you'll lose federal protections, like the current student loan payment freeze and potential student loan forgiveness.
Several experts told Insider what red flags indicate a company may not be great to work for. No matter how appealing a job sounds on paper, if you come across these six red flags when interviewing at a company, it might be best to pass it over for a better opportunity. The job description is vagueEven for a brand-new role, the hiring manager should have a clear picture of what it entails. They're being cagey or defensive around compensationThe last thing any job seeker wants is to interview multiple times for a job without knowing if the pay meets their expectations. "If a company won't accommodate, that's also a red flag," Monaghan said.

But as the practice of pay transparency becomes more common and less of a novelty, choosing not to disclose salary ranges will be seen as out of the norm. Melanie Naranjo, who heads its "people team," said the company weighed common employer concerns before deciding that the benefits of salary transparency would outweigh any costs. He said listing salary ranges will help candidates better understand the value of their role, too. I think all of these future-of-work conversations are related, and a lot of these issues can be solved through pay transparency, but also pay flexibility.”
