At 55 years old, however, the lanky, unassuming Cuban athlete is now celebrating the third decade that his record-breaking 2.45-metres leap over the outdoor high jump bar in Salamanca, Spain, in 1993, remains unmatched. Including his prior 2.43m indoor world record in Budapest five years earlier, Sotomayor counts 35 years as world record holder, though the weather-sensitive outdoor title carries more weight internationally. Sotomayor first hurled himself to the world's top high jump spot in 1988, before beating this with a 2.44m spring in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the following year.

June 29 (Reuters) - The number of German firms pushed into insolvency rose in the first half of this year at the fastest pace in more than two decades due to the energy crisis, inflation and rising interest rates, a study by credit agency Creditreform showed on Thursday. "The enormous cost burdens caused by excessively high energy and material costs are making an effect," said Creditreform chief economist Patrik-Ludwig Hantzsch. Such a combination backfires on firms and leads to "an economic dead end" in a rising interest rate environment, Hantzsch said. Creditreform sees a further rise in insolvencies over the rest of the year as high inflation and rising interest rates will keep hampering German businesses. Eli Lilly on Tuesday said it struck a $2.4 billion deal to acquire Dice Therapeutics in a bid to bulk up its treatment portfolio for immune-related diseases. Dice Therapeutics' share price jumped more than 37% to just under the purchase price. Auto-immune diseases can causes pain, fatigue, dizziness, depression and rashes, among other symptoms. There are more than 100 known autoimmune diseases, including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Eli Lilly's immunology portfolio includes drugs like Taltz, which treats plaque psoriasis, and Olumiant, a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis.
