ROME (AP) — An ancient Roman imperial palazzo atop the city's Palatine Hill was reopened to tourists on Thursday, nearly 50 years after its closure for restoration. The nearly 2,000-year-old Domus Tiberiana was home to rulers in the ancient city’s Imperial period. The public is now able to tour it, following decades of structural restoration work to shore the palace up for safety reasons. The English word “palatial” is inspired by the sumptuous imperial residence atop the Palatine, one of ancient Rome's seven hills. The domus, built on the northwest slope of the hill, is considered to be the first true imperial palace.

This year, Weber Inc. cut its outlook twice, replaced its chief executive and withdrew its financial guidance. Weber Inc. on Monday said it agreed to a sweetened buyout from BDT Capital Partners LLC, the private-equity firm that took the grill maker public in 2021 and had remained the company’s majority owner. BDT agreed to pay $8.05 a share, a 24% premium to Weber’s closing price Friday, for the rest of the Palatine, Ill.-based company that it doesn’t own. BDT holds a more-than 85% stake in Weber.
Dec 12 (Reuters) - Weber Inc (WEBR.N), known for its domed charcoal grill, said on Monday it had agreed to be taken private by controlling shareholder BDT Capital Partners LLC in a $3.7 billion deal. BDT, which has a 48.2% stake in Weber, will buy all outstanding shares that it does not already own for $8.05 per share. Shares of Weber, which have shed nearly half of their value this year, jumped nearly 22% to $7.90 in premarket trading. Palatine, Illinois-based Weber said that as part of the deal, funds managed by BDT will provide the grill maker with an unsecured loan of additional $350 million. Weber plans to utilize the loan to repay existing debt and fund working capital for the 2023 outdoor cooking season, among other purposes.
Siegler is a cognitive “SuperAger,” possessing a brain as sharp as people 20 to 30 years younger. She is part of an elite group enrolled in the Northwestern SuperAging Research Program, which has been studying the elderly with superior memories for 14 years. Once accepted, colorful 3D scans are taken of the brain and cognitive testing and brain scans are repeated every year or so. A SuperAger’s brain, usually donated to the research program by participants after death, also has bigger, healthier cells in the entorhinal cortex. SuperAger brains had three times fewer tau tangles, or abnormal formations of protein within nerve cells, than the brains of cognitively healthy controls, the study also found.
An Indian Muslim American who wears a hijab, she remembers the former president’s 2016 Election Day with perfect clarity. Her social media accounts are full of these selfies, thanking the voters who spoke to her by name.
