Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, on Monday called on President Joe Biden to replace Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Chairman Martin Gruenberg after allegations of widespread sexual harassment and misconduct within the agency. There "must be fundamental changes at the FDIC," Brown, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, said in a statement. With his statement, Brown broke from fellow Democrats, who have largely condemned the allegations but refrained from pushing for Gruenberg's resignation, instead calling for him to drive changes at the agency. Law firm Cleary Gottlieb in April released a scathing report detailing an alleged culture of "sexual harassment, discrimination, and other interpersonal misconduct" at the FDIC. In one instance, Gruenberg allegedly screamed profanities at employees after they delivered bad news, the report said.

CNN —American citizens were involved in an attempted coup d’état that left at least three people dead on Sunday in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a military spokesperson told CNN Monday. Malanga was killed in a gun battle between the armed putschists and the presidential guards, Ekenge said. Videos widely shared on social media, but not verified by CNN, showed a man with a bloody face being surrounded by Congolese military personnel. Sunday’s incident was the second coup attempt by the now deceased Malanga, a former Congolese military veteran, Ekenge told CNN. The African Union condemned Sunday’s coup attempt in the DRC and welcomed the “control of the situation” by the country’s security forces.

Binance is finding 300,000 fake addresses every week, mainly on Ethereum and Bitcoin networks. AdvertisementAs crypto thieves find more creative ways to trick people, so do those trying to crack down on them. Binance, a major crypto exchange, told Business Insider that it has developed an algorithm to spot fake crypto addresses — used in so-called "address poisoning" scams. According to Binance, the company's algorithm is detecting some 300,000 fake addresses every week, mostly on Ethereum and Bitcoin networks. The FBI warns that services offering to return money to the victims of crypto scams might actually also be scams themselves.
