CNN —It has been a while since Red Bull failed to win a Formula One race so the Singapore Grand Prix gave fans some unexpected variety when Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz secured victory in Sunday’s night race. Such has been Red Bull’s dominance, the last time one of their drivers failed to win a race was in November 2022, when Mercedes’ George Russell won the Brazilian Grand Prix. Red Bull’s qualifying struggles opened the door for others on Sunday and it was Sainz who capitalized, claiming victory from pole position to end Red Bull’s hopes of winning every race this year. McLaren’s Lando Norris was second, while Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was third, finishing over a second behind the Spaniard who celebrated his second win for Ferrari. “We nailed the race,” Sainz told reporters.

Varianta de coronavirus depistată în Marea Britanie continuă să se răspândească în întreaga lume şi era prezentă săptămâna trecută în 60 de ţări şi teritorii, cu 10 mai mult decât la data de 12 ianuarie. Potrivit OMS, varianta sud-africană se răspândeşte mai lent şi este prezentă în 23 de ţări şi teritorii. OMS a afirmat, de asemenea, că monitorizează răspândirea altor două variante care au apărut în Brazilia, una dintre acestea, P1, fiind detectată în Japonia la patru persoane sosite din ţara din America de Sud, transmite agerpres.ro. Varianta britanică raportată OMS la jumătatea lunii decembrie este considerată cu 50-70% mai contagioasă decât coronavirusul iniţial şi este prezentă în cele şase zone geografice ale OMS, în timp ce varianta sud-africană este prezentă doar în patru dintre acestea, a subliniat OMS fără preciza în care dintre ele.
