Three Amazon staffers sued their employer on Monday alleging gender discrimination and accusing the company of retaliation after they complained of "chronic pay inequity issues." He added that Amazon doesn't tolerate discrimination in the workplace, and it investigates all reported incidents of such behavior. The complaint was filed by Outten & Golden, the same New York law firm that represented a Google executive in her successful gender bias lawsuit, as well as Uber software engineers who sued the company for gender and racial discrimination. Amazon has faced allegations of gender and racial discrimination from tech and corporate workers in recent years.

On Monday, a mystery item was found on the beach north of Rodanthe Pier, reports say. It later turned out to belong to the US Navy, but disappeared before it could be recovered by the military. On Monday, the same day a local house washed out to sea, Kyle Barniak found something had washed in just north of North Carolina's Rodanthe Pier in the Outer Banks. Barniak learned the vessel belonged to the US Navy's Norfolk Naval Air Station in Virginia nearly 100 miles north of Rodanthe. "The county doesn't have the funds to pay for a beach nourishment project," Dare County Manager Bobby Outten told WRAL.

It's a meaningful difference amid recent headlines about a successful lawsuit in the Netherlands that saw a Dutch remote worker awarded $73,000 after he was fired after refusing to turn on his webcam during a virtual training program. A remote worker attends a virtual meeting on their laptop. On the federal level, the laws around employee privacy are "kind of outdated" and issues coming up now with remote work are not really covered, she said. As the workforce turns more to work from home and remote work, Boerner said it's possible that more states will follow New York's example with its new employee-monitoring law that went into effect in May.
