Clarence Thomas still has about two days to accept John Oliver's deal to quit the Supreme Court. Thomas once said that the job of a Supreme Court justice was "not worth doing for what they pay." AdvertisementJohn Oliver says Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas still has less than 48 hours to accept his million-dollar offer to quit the court. During a February episode of "Last Week Tonight," Oliver promised Thomas $1 million a year to leave the SCOTUS bench. But it is worth doing for the principle," Thomas told the Bar Association in Savannah, Georgia, in 2001.

Discovery is delaying "Last Week Tonight" YouTube streaming to push viewers to Max. Every Sunday night, John Oliver hosts "Last Week Tonight" on cable TV. When it plays on YouTube, where HBO runs it without ads, it doesn't make any money. So hoping that making "Last Week Tonight" a little harder to see for free fits pretty easily into that pattern. AdvertisementThe move also runs counter to the way TV networks are treating comedy #content in general.

“We come from a place where gun violence is a problem, but you will never see a 19-year-old with an AR-15 getting into a school and shooting people,” Manuel Oliver said. “There’s a reason for the gun violence in a Third World country. Joaquin's AI voice identifies him and then says, “Many students and teachers were murdered on Valentine’s Day ... by a person using an AR-15, but you don’t care. Other families who lost loved ones to gun violence will be allowed to add their victim's re-created voice to the project, which runs indefinitely. The scandalous hit movie "Saltburn" premiered on Prime Video during 2023's Christmas period. AdvertisementThis as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Rebecca Schwartz Altholz about her experience watching "Saltburn" with their family. In hindsight, I would not choose "Saltburn" for a family movie night. In the final scene, Oliver reveals to the last living member of the Catton family, Elspeth, that he was after her family's fortune. Everyone should watch "Saltburn," but I would skip putting it on at your next movie night unless your family is as weird as mine.

Oliver spies on Felix as he pleasures himself in a clawfoot tub. After Felix finishes and leaves the room, Oliver crawls into the tub and drinks the last bit of water from the bath as it swirls down the rusty drain. The scene's shocking nature has led to countless TikToks and jokes, including a cocktail recipe inspired by the moment. "The bathroom was described along with the whole walkthrough scene when Felix walks through showing Oliver the house," Davies told Business Insider. "It was a spare bedroom with tapestry on the walls and a cream color," Davies explained of their chosen room.

WELLINGTON, Nov 15 (Reuters) - The puteketeke, a bird that pukes, grunts, growls and has bizarre mating rituals, won New Zealand’s bird of the century title in a competition where American-British comedian John Oliver's involvement has ruffled some local feathers. The Bird of the Year competition - billed Bird of the Century in 2023 to celebrate environmental organisation Forest & Bird’s centenary - is an annual event where people vote on their favourite New Zealand bird. In 2023, the American-British comedian Oliver exploited a loophole in the system that allows anyone to vote from anywhere for a bird. We’re stoked to see the outpouring of passion, creativity and debate that this campaign has ignited,” said Nicola Toki, chief executive of competition organiser Forest & Bird. Following news that Oliver’s pick had beaten out the competition, New Zealand’s prime minister-elect congratulated him on X, formerly known as Twitter.

LONDON, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Writer, director and actor Emerald Fennell follows up her Oscar-winning feature debut "Promising Young Woman" with a starry satirical thriller, "Saltburn". Oliver's status and confidence are given a boost when Felix invites him to spend the summer at Saltburn, his family's sprawling countryside estate. "Promising Young Woman", which earned Fennell a best original screenplay Oscar, came out in 2020 and its release during the COVID pandemic helped ease some of the sophomore film pressure, Fennell said. Fennell, whose acting credits include "Barbie" and "The Crown", said she spent years writing the script in her head, revisiting the characters and the locations. The star of her debut film, Carey Mulligan, also makes an appearance in "Saltburn", alongside Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant, who play Felix's parents.
