After weeks of being the headline-grabbing defendant in a criminal trial in Manhattan, Donald J. Trump will head to Crotona Park in the Bronx for a rally on Thursday where he no doubt hopes to take a more favorable star turn. “I wish he would just disappear,” said Noel Rivera, a retired subway track worker who was walking his dog in Crotona Park on Wednesday. “Nobody that I know supports him.”Mr. Trump’s event on Thursday evening in the expansive park in the South Bronx is his first campaign rally in New York State since 2016. His choice of the Bronx might seem odd, since it is one of the most deeply Democratic counties in the country. In 2020, President Biden won the Bronx by 68 percent. In 2016, Mr. Trump lost the Bronx by more than 300,000 votes.

Interview requestsChatGPT's newest model gave the shortest answer for this prompt. Business InsiderThis is one of the most common emails I send at my job, so I was an expert on how they should be structured. I've tried having GPT write these emails, but it never works out — the emails ChatGPT constructs are always extremely long and ridiculously official-sounding. The older models provided lengthier answers. For example, the older GPT-4 model said the faux interview would "focus on the key milestones and future implications of generative AI technology."

Copper "is the most compelling trade I have ever seen," Carlyle's Jeff Currie said on the Odd Lots podcast. He thinks the metal's massive mismatch in supply and demand could push its price up to $15,000 a ton. AdvertisementCopper supply issues are making the metal considerably more expensive, says commodities veteran Jeff Currie, who is very bullish on the opportunity. He later added: "I just quote many of our clients and other market participants say it's the highest conviction trade they've ever seen." Though not necessarily part of his acronym, artificial intelligence is also amplifying industry demand, Currie mentioned.

As a growing number of overseas Chinese students run into financial difficulties due to the declining wealth of their families, many go online to express their grief and seek advice on how to cope with the situation. The 24-year-old Chinese student is currently studying design in an undergraduate program at a university in Alabama. Her parents have so far spent 1.5 million Chinese yuan, or about $211,500, to fund her overseas studies and living expenses. But in October last year, her parents told her they were facing cash flow problems and could no longer offer her financial support. CNN —The signs are mounting that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is weighing an indictment against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top Israeli officials over Israel’s conduct of its war against Hamas in Gaza. But in 2015 the ICC stepped in to decide that implicitly it is, by accepting it — without consulting the Assembly of States Parties (ASP), representing ICC member states. Could the highly respected chief prosecutor, Britain’s Karim Khan, be feeling some pressure to play his part in ramping up the pressure on Netanyahu? Netanyahu is on the ropes politically and would almost certainly be trounced in an election held today. Israel desperately needs Netanyahu to be gone, as does the region and the world.

In the pitch-dark auditorium of Rome’s Teatro Costanzi, a high-pitched lament floated from the top galleries. Dozens of flashlights snapped on, their beams crisscrossing crazily, seeking the source of the sound. The shafts of light homed in on a spectral figure — a slim, dark-haired woman dressed in white, moving at a funereal pace and plaintively singing. In the audience, 130-odd children, ages 8 to 10, let loose squeals, some gasps, and one “it’s not real.” Several called out “Emma, Emma.”The children had just been told that the Costanzi, the capital’s opera house, had a resident phantom. This was said to be the spirit of Emma Carelli, an Italian soprano who managed the theater a century ago, and loved it so much that she was loath to leave it, even in death.

I didn't want to drop my maiden nameWhen we got married, I was 27. Eventually, I decided to use my maiden name as my middle name, a middle ground that would allow me to keep my old name and use a new one. We decided that we would give any sons we had the middle name of Davis, too, and our daughters' middle names would be the maiden names of our mothers. After our wedding, I went to the Social Security office to make my new name, Jamie Davis Smith, official. The one certain thing is that trying to find a middle ground, using a middle name as a last name, has not worked well for me.

CNN —Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” is one of the first songs I learned to play on the violin. While his doctor’s notes were lost to time, scientists sequenced Beethoven’s genome from locks of his hair last year. Hulton Archive/Getty ImagesA new analysis of Beethoven’s hair has shown the composer experienced lead poisoning toward the end of his life. Tests revealed incredibly elevated levels of lead, as well as arsenic and mercury, in two of his locks, likely from drinking wine that was sweetened with lead. Researchers don’t believe lead poisoning would have been enough to kill him, but it could have contributed to the composer’s well-known gastrointestinal issues and deafness.
