The rising economic power of women in this country is one of the most significant financial shifts of recent decades. "As more and more women have a say in significant financial decisions, it's easy to see they're not adhering to business as usual." Women continue to make more financial decisions on behalf of the household and more women are also turning to the investing decisions. In general, a higher percentage of women are interested in ESG investing than men, says CFP Cathy Curtis, CEO of Curtis Financial Planning in Oakland, California. Businesses that prepare for the transition of wealth to women could see four-times faster revenue growth, according to a McKinsey & Co. report.

Black Friday Live Updates: Holiday Shopping in a Pandemic

Now, all retailers are entering their most important time of the year — the holiday shopping season that has long revolved around Black Friday. About 59 percent of shoppers had started their holiday shopping by early November, according to the National Retail Federation. E-commerce sales are expected to grow by as much as 30 percent over last year’s holiday season, the trade group said. Whatever the size of the increase, it is remarkable on many levels that Americans, on the whole, are expected to spend more this holiday season than last. And yet, for all the upending of shopping habits this year, stores are still hoping for Black Friday crowds on Friday.

And that money, like all wealth in the United States, is extremely concentrated in the upper brackets. Mr. Jacobs, whose grandfather was a founder of Qualcomm, expects to receive up to $100 million over the course of his lifetime. Most of his fellow millennials, however, are receiving a rotten inheritance — debt, dim job prospects and a figment of a social safety net. In their time, the ever-widening gulf between the rich and poor has pushed left-wing politics back into the American political mainstream. Mr. Jacobs, as both a trust-fund kid and an anticapitalist, is in a rare position among leftists fighting against economic inequality.

Complementing human contact-tracers, the smartphone apps use Bluetooth signals to track when people are in close contact and anonymously alert users when a recent contact tests positive. SPEEDY NOTIFICATIONSMany governments in U.S. states and elsewhere spent millions of dollars and countless staff hours on development to launch apps before Express arrived. The United States has lagged, with about 6 million people having tried exposure notification apps since the first one debuted in August, according to data from the 18 states and two territories that made apps available. It was taking days for backlogged case investigators to send the codes, which has contributed to poor follow-through in many states, with fewer than half of positive users entering their code. “Time is of the essence,” said Dr. Katherine Feldman, Maryland’s head of contact tracing.

Shoppers ascend and descend escalators at the King of Prussia Mall, owned by Simon Property Group, United State's largest retail shopping space, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Under the new deal, Simon will now pay $43 per share for Taubman, down roughly 18% from an original price of $52.50. Simon and Taubman were set to face each other in Oakland County Superior Court in Michigan, beginning Monday, to negotiate the contested deal.
