Shares of OneSavings Bank , a U.K. lender focusing on landlords, are set to see its share price double from current levels, according to analysts at Jefferies. The lender's stock has already risen by 30% over the past month after it revealed a rapidly growing loan book. U.K. shares are generally priced in pence, with 100 pence equal to one British pound ($1.27). The investment bank believes the market is undervaluing OSB's stock due to the negative perception surrounding the U.K. economy and stock market. They are also bullish on the stock with a 720-pence-per-share price target, giving the stock a 90% upside potential.

REUTERS/Ralph Orlowski/File photo Acquire Licensing RightsLONDON, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) has completed its takeover of Numis (NUM.L), a London-based boutique investment bank, expanding its links with UK corporate clients, the German bank said on Friday. The combined business, Deutsche Numis, will oversee more than 170 corporate broking relationships and provide advisor, corporate broking, and equity capital markets services, the bank said. Fabrizio Campelli, who oversees Deutsche's investment bank, said the deal would expand the bank's reach into Europe's largest investment banking market. Deutsche Bank announced in April it had agreed to buy Numis for 410 million pounds ($500 million).

"There's been very little marking down of (private) assets," said Con Keating, head of research at Brighton Rock Group, an insurance company for pension schemes. "No-one knows where the next big blow-up for pensions will come from," said Henry Tapper, founder of pension market analysis group AgeWage. He said heavy selling of commercial property and private equity stakes by pension schemes is raising questions over private capital valuations. "It's the right approach to obviously put some scrutiny on private market valuations." But in deals where private equity firms and investors buy and sell portfolios of investments, assets are being valued at less.

Falling house prices and rising rents are expected to benefit two U.K. stocks focused on the private rented sector: The PRS REIT PLC and Grainger PLC , according to stock analysts. Those contrary trends of declining house prices and surging rents have created a favorable environment for companies owning rental housing — like PRS REIT and Grainger. Jefferies has forecast 9% rental growth for PRS REIT in 2023, while Berenberg expects continued "strong organic rental growth to result in continued earnings growth, despite increasing finance costs." The investment banks also pointed to high occupancy rates for the two landlords: 97-98% for PRS REIT and 98.7% for Grainger. PRS REIT shares have dropped 21% in the past year, far above the 2.1% decline for the FTSE 250 index.

The payout is expected to be a significant win for Burford Capital , which funded the lawsuit brought by YPF's minority shareholders, Petersen Energia Inversora and Eton Park Capital Management. Investment bank Jefferies estimates Burford Capital is entitled to around $6.3 billion from the verdict, approximately twice the company's market capitalization. Jefferies analysts led by Julian Roberts said shares of Burford have "further to go" after the stock jumped by more than 6% on Friday alone. The $16 billion payout includes around $8.4 billion in damages plus about $7.6 billion in 8% pre-judgment interest since the April 2012 seizure date determined by the judge. "We will continue to defend energy sovereignty and our state company YPF against vulture funds," Cerruti said.

Shares of Molten Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on technology, could rise by more than 180%, according to Berenberg. Berenberg said Molten is currently trading at a 67% discount to its last-reported net asset value (NAV). This should, in turn, result in a substantial increase in Molten's share price. Aujla's note said that most of this decrease occurred in the first half of the year when the gross portfolio value (GPV) declined by 17% due to falling valuations. However, the analyst pointed out that Molten's investment strategy should provide protection against significant portfolio value decreases.

WE Soda to sell shares in rare London IPO
  + stars: | 2023-05-31 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
LONDON, May 31 (Reuters) - WE Soda, the world's largest producer of natural soda ash, said on Wednesday it planned to list shares on the London stock exchange, in a boost for Britain's flagging initial public offering (IPO) market. The UK-based company, which produces soda ash for a variety of uses including glass manufacturing, is considering applying for admission to trade on the premium segment of the London Stock Exchange (LSE). Though proceeds raised in London IPOs fell 90% last year, according to research by consultancy EY, the British capital has seen some activity in recent months. Earlier in May, Admiral Acquisition (ADMR.L), a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) founded by veteran dealmaker Martin E. Franklin, raised $550 million in a London flotation. In April, Melrose Industries (MRON.L) listed the former automotive division of British engineer GKN under the name Dowlais (DWL.L) on the LSE.

Morning Bid: Amazon cools, Intel warms, Japan hesitates

[1/2] A smartphone with a displayed Intel logo is placed on a computer motherboard in this illustration taken March 6, 2023. But the dramatic re-acceleration of Big Tech stocks this week - where the NYFANG+TM (.NYFANG) index of the top 10 Big Tech stocks is now up 37% so far this year - is competing with multiple macro narratives that are increasingly hard to read. With the Fed meeting in view, the release of March PCE price inflation data later on Friday tops the diary. Wall St stock futures fell back 0.4% after a wild ride in Amazon.com shares overnight. With much of Europe and Asia closed on Monday for the May Day bank holiday, Asia bourses advanced in Wall St's slipstream but Europe retreated sharply on some jarring corporate updates.
The US Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation insures deposits up to $250,000 per person, per account, using a fund that banks pay into. “I don’t think that’s served us well.”Some argue the US deposit insurance limit should be 100 times higher. What is deposit insurance? Deposit insurance is aimed at calming fears, giving customers less reason to pull their cash out in a hurry. The debate over deposit insurance taps into bigger questions about the state’s role in private enterprise.
LONDON, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Investment firms and brokers in Britain teamed up on Thursday to back a new standalone retail platform to strengthen access for small investors to the UK capital market. "The collaboration of market participants using this service is an important step towards the more equitable inclusion of retail investors in UK capital markets," said a joint statement from brokers. One aim is to make it easier for retail investors to participate in capital markets, a step the European Union is also working on, with legislative proposals due in April. The government has said it will implement recommendations from a review of secondary capital markets to overhaul company fundraisings and give more access to retail investors. REX enables retail investors to participate in capital markets transactions such as initial public offers and follow-on equity offerings through retail brokers and wealth managers.
Ocado’s South Korean deal is valuation rocket fuel
  + stars: | 2022-11-01 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
Shares in the 5.4 billion pound ($6.2 billion) online grocer surged almost 40% on Tuesday after it inked a new deal with South Korea’s Lotte Shopping (023530.KS). The warehouses could bring in about 2.1 billion pounds of annual sales when operating at full capacity, Numis analysts reckon. That implies about 100 million pounds of annual revenue, equivalent to 4% of sales in the last financial year. Most significantly, it shows that Steiner’s strategy of building warehouses for supermarkets worldwide may have legs. Steiner’s South Korean deal offers his company some valuation rocket fuel.
