Cercetătorii cred că SN1054, o supernovă celebră pentru faptul că a fost vizibilă de pe Pământ o perioadă lungă la începutul mileniului trecut, ar putea fi explicată pe baza noii descoperiri. Ei au descoperit numeroase caracteristici neobişnuite ale supernovei SN 2018zd, unele dintre ele observate în premieră la o supernovă.
