☆ U.S., China agree to double weekly flights between countries

Sources said U.S. airlines are not expected to immediately take advantage of all 18 weekly flights. China Eastern 600115.SS, Xiamen Airlines and China Southern 600029.SS also fly scheduled service to the U.S., while United Airlines UAL.N, American Airlines AAL.O and Delta Airlines DAL.N currently operate passenger flights to China. The 24 weekly flights are still a fraction of the more than 150 round-trip flights allowed by each side before restrictions were imposed in early 2020 due to the COVID-pandemic. Previously, only eight weekly flights by Chinese carriers were allowed. Reuters reported in June Chinese airlines were avoiding flying over Russian airspace in newly approved flights to and from the U.S. but still using Russian airspace for other flights.

JPMorgan Chase — The Wall Street heavyweight added 1.2% in premarket trading after an upgrade from Jefferies to buy from hold on Tuesday. U.S. Bancorp — Shares of the Minnesota-based bank gained 2.2% following an upgrade to buy from neutral by Bank of America. 3M — Shares rose nearly 2% in premarket trading following an upgrade to neutral from underperform by Bank of America. Shares of Zions fell 1.5% in premarket trading, while Truist's were down 1%. The biotech company on Monday said the pricing of its underwritten public offering, of 20 million shares of common stock, would be at $7.50 per share.

☆ A group of passengers flying from Paris to New York skipped passport control and customs due to a 'disembarkation issue'

Passengers on an April 4 flight from Paris to New York left the airport with no immigration check. The incident involved a Norse Atlantic Airways flight that landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport. "We are investigating a disembarkation issue that took place on arrival at New York JFK on Tuesday evening concerning a Norse Atlantic Airways flight from Paris," the statement said. The low-cost carrier is fairly new to the transatlantic flight scene. Norse's New York to Paris route, which was inaugurated on March 26, has one-way flights starting at 269 Euros, or around $300.

Daily flights between Newark and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will drop to 10 from 18. Daily departures from New York LaGuardia Airport to Washington Dulles International Airport will decrease to six from nine. United could cut more flights beginning in June. Airlines have already cut about 10% of scheduled flights this spring to address performance issues, said trade group Airlines for America. Last summer air traffic control staffing was a factor in delays of 41,498 flights from New York airports, the FAA disclosed in March.
