A Haley victory would usher in a more competitive phase of a primary that Trump has so far dominated. President Joe Biden is not on the ballot, having made South Carolina the first formal stop on the Democratic primary calendar. But New Hampshire is sticking to tradition and hosting its own Democratic primary anyway. We're about to find out whether Republican primary voters agree. Furious about Biden's decision, the “Live Free or Die” state ignored the president's wishes and will host its own unsanctioned Democratic primary anyway.

Let's be real: It's all on the line for Nikki Haley in next week’s Republican primary in the Granite State. If the former South Carolina governor can't win in New Hampshire, I'm not sure where she can win. (This has historically been the case, and, no, registered Democrats can't vote in the primary, unlike what Trump has said.) New Hampshire Republicans tend to be on the relatively wealthy side compared to other Republican primary electorates. It's more to say that Haley has no real statistical argument for how she can win the nomination if she can't win in New Hampshire.

The 2024 Iowa Republican caucuses are just days away. As they have for decades, Iowa Republicans will kick off actual voting with a series of caucuses around the state's 99 counties. And yet, no candidate will have anywhere near the number of delegates needed to become the Republican presidential nominee. As for the winners, the last three winners of a competitive Iowa Republican caucus, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, and former Arkansas Gov. As smaller states, Iowa and New Hampshire are supposed to offer candidates with less money or name recognition the chance to compete.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump on Monday will formally file for the New Hampshire presidential primary ahead of a campaign rally in Derry. It will be Trump's second trip to the secretary of state's office. Eight years ago, he signed up for the 2016 contest on the first day of the filing period, then sent Vice President Mike Pence to file his paperwork for the 2020 primary. Candidates this year have until Oct. 27 to officially sign up, and dozens are expected to do so. In 2020, 33 Democrats and 17 Republicans signed up.

But in first-primary state New Hampshire, Trump sits in the campaign driver's seat, with nearly half of Granite State GOP primary voters saying the former president is their first pick for the 2024 presidential nomination. Nikki Haley, who served as Trump's ambassador to the United Nations, came in second with 19% support – the highest level she has attained in New Hampshire primary polls. The survey found that voters were not very willing to shift to other candidates at this point, months before the yet-unscheduled New Hampshire primary. But the Suffolk poll indicates that Trump's legal woes have not deterred his base. "Add in second-choice votes from all the other major candidates – even if they all endorsed Haley – and Trump sits above 55%," Paleologos said.

Chris Christie needled Trump over the ex-president's desire to "debate" Megan Markle. Christie told CNN there is "no interest" in Trump and Markle having a debate "about anything." Chris Christie of New Jersey on Friday mocked former President Donald Trump for stating that he'd "love to debate" Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, pointing to the ex-president's refusal to attend the first Republican presidential debate. "Donald Trump wants to debate Meghan Markle but not his opponents? "I think there is absolutely no interest in either Donald Trump or Meghan Markle debating about anything."

All those candidates, however, then proceeded to lose the New Hampshire primary and the party nomination. Only 26% of New Hampshire Republican primary voters identified the same way. Trump has also been weaker among demographic groups who make up a larger share of the New Hampshire Republican electorate. Although the 2016 Iowa entrance poll did not ask about income, the 2020 general election exit poll did. (Note: Household and family income are somewhat different measures, but I’m merely demonstrating that New Hampshire Republicans are, on the whole, wealthier than Iowa Republicans.)

On top of the GOP gubernatorial primary in Kentucky, there are other contests taking place on Tuesday that could provide some clues about 2024 — even though it’s hard to draw too many lessons from individual races. Voters are also heading to the polls in Pennsylvania, which is hosting a crowded Democratic primary for Philadelphia mayor. Two races will also provide some insight into voter attitudes in two key counties in two crucial battlegrounds. In other Pence news, he will attend Iowa GOP Sen. Joni Ernst’s “Roast and Ride” event next month, per Fox News (former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is also attending). Jumping in: Former state Rep. REUTERS/Russell CheyneMay 10 (Reuters) - Former President Donald Trump again refused to acknowledge that he lost the 2020 election and said he would pardon many supporters convicted for their involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in a contentious CNN town hall on Wednesday. Trump declined to express regret for the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol when supporters sought to prevent Congress for ratifying the election result, and he repeated his plan to pardon individuals involved if voters return him to the White House in 2024. I can't say for every single one because a couple of them probably they got out of control," Trump said. Trump and Collins frequently interrupted each other with Collins challenging a number of the former president's false claims about the 2020 election and the attack on Jan. 6 which followed a speech he gave outside the White House that day.
Trump continued to attack columnist E. Jean Carroll during a nationally televised town hall. Just a day before, Carroll partially won her federal civil case against Trump. Trump went on to suggest that Carroll, who vividly recounted her allegation on the witness stand, was overly promiscuous. I don't know if she was married then or not. I feel sorry for you John Johnson," Trump said to a chorus of laughter.
A day after a jury found Trump sexually violated E. Jean Carroll, he mocked her as a "whack job" on CNN. CNN let Trump try to re-victimize his own sex-assault victim in front of millions, victim advocates said. Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has said she is a survivor of sexual assault, slammed CNN's town hall with Trump as "shameful." "As a sexual assault survivor I'm disgusted with @CNN," tweeted @Irishrygirl. She explained how for many survivors of sexual assault the "pain" that comes with being disbelieved "is deeply harmful over and above the harms of sexual assault itself."
Trump was back on CNN primetime during a town hall appearance on Wednesday night. And CNN certainly seemed to be eager for conservative buy-in during the Wednesday town hall, filling the room with a mixture of New Hampshire Republicans and effectively independent voters. The former president's advisor told other outlets that the town hall was an effort to underline Trump's 2016 strategy of reaching beyond the traditional GOP coalition. During the Wednesday town hall, Trump called Carroll a "whack job," echoing the very falsehoods that landed him with a defamation charge this week. "The predictably disastrous @cnn town hall was indeed disastrous," former broadcast exec and current dean of the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University, Mark Lukasiewicz tweeted.

While in Israel, DeSantis will also keynote an event hosted by The Jerusalem Post and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem. The trip will spotlight DeSantis’ foreign policy credentials as he inches toward a White House bid. DeSantis’ predecessor, now-US Sen. Rick Scott, embarked on more than a dozen trade missions during his tenure as governor. Eleven Florida Republicans have endorsed Trump over DeSantis so far – including seven last week. State lawmakers have also balked at a provision in DeSantis’ immigration package that would eliminate in-state tuition for undocumented residents.

Donald Trump said he is "more angry" than ever before as he kicked off his 2024 campaign. He spoke at events with party leaders in New Hampshire and South Carolina on Saturday. Since his 2024 announcement, Trump's campaign has appeared to be off to a slow start. While speaking at the New Hampshire Republicans' annual meeting in Salem, Trump rejected claims that his campaign has lost momentum. "They said, 'He's not doing rallies, he's not campaigning, maybe he's lost that step,'" Trump said at the New Hampshire GOP's annual meeting in Salem, his first event.

After weeks of uncertainty, New Hampshire Republicans emerged this week with a slim majority in the state House of Representatives following midterm elections. With the GOP retaining control of the state House and Senate and the governorship, New Hampshire brings to 39 the number of states with a governing trifecta—one party holding a majority in both legislative chambers while also occupying the governor’s mansion. It is the most trifectas since 1947. Democrats now hold 17 state trifectas, compared with 22 held by Republicans, after the party flipped legislative chambers in Minnesota and Michigan and governorships in Massachusetts and Maryland. The GOP flipped one governorship, in Nevada, loosening Democrats’ grip on a state where that party maintained control of both legislative chambers.
