ET Live Updates: Police Investigating Whether Lawmakers Gave Rioters Tour of Capitol Before Siege The Capitol Police are looking into whether members of Congress inappropriately gave visitors access to the Capitol ahead of last week’s assault. But Mr. Lindell’s ability to walk into the Oval Office and meet with Mr. Trump underscored the type of conspiracy theorists who still appeal to Mr. Trump, so long as they are saying what he wants to hear. Everytown for Gun Safety is calling for a ban on firearms in state Capitol buildings, polling places and vote-counting sites. Mr. Trump immediately seized on the investigation, using it as evidence to his false and discredited theories of widespread voter fraud. Lawmakers hid under their desks from violent protesters after President Trump encouraged them during a rally to head to the Capitol.

Nora Lum, known by her stage name Awkwafina, may have an estimated net worth in the millions, but she still lives with the mindset that she just needs $500 per month in order to get by, she recently told E. Alex Jung in the February cover story for Harper's Bazaar. "I went into this mode of, if I can make $500 a month, that's all I need, because that's how much my rent was at the time," she tells Harper's Bazaar. "To this day I feel like I'm still in that 'All I need is 500-a-month' mindset." she said to Harper's Bazaar. "Yes, I always feel impostor syndrome because there are so many talented people out there," Lum tells Harper's Bazaar.

“He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding.” “These facts require immediate actions by President Trump,” he continued. A few Republicans defended him, but most others simply argued that a rush to impeach Mr. Trump without a hearing or an investigation raised constitutional questions. With Democrats controlling the House, Mr. Trump is expected to become the first American president to be impeached twice. Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington sent a letter to Mr. Trump on Sunday asking for an emergency declaration to obtain additional funding for inauguration security. On Tuesday, a federal inspector general questioned an order to deliver the estimates before Mr. Trump leaves office, after whistle-blowers warned that the rush would imperil their accuracy.

These Tech Companies Are Paying Workers the Same Rates Across U.S.

Tech workers and employers alike are beginning to question location-focused pay scales. In setting pay without regard for location, tech companies including Reddit Inc. and Zillow Group Inc. are making a potentially expensive gamble to retain talent and gain a hiring edge. Payment platform Stripe Inc. offered one-time bonuses for workers who moved out of San Francisco, Seattle or New York—and agreed to a pay cut of up to 10%. But a pay cut for any reason can be bad for worker morale, said Jake Rosenfeld, a sociology professor at Washington University in St. Louis who researches pay determination. A November survey of 600 tech workers by the job-search platform Indeed found that 60% of respondents would be willing to take a pay cut to work remotely permanently while 40% said they wouldn’t.

New York's iconic Katz's Deli hasn't changed much since opening its doors in 1888. But pastrami sandwiches and matzoh ball soup aren't the only reason Katz's Deli has endured for 132 years. Courtesy Katz's Deli Since World War II, Katz's has been shipping sandwiches, soups, and other Jewish specialities around the country, Dell said. "The truth is, reubens aren't even a deli sandwich, it's a bullshit sandwich," Dell told Eater in 2015. To date, it's donated more than 2,000 meals to healthcare workers across 20 hospitals in New York City, according to Katz's Deli.

Two candidates have been mainstays in New York politics: Eric Adams, the Brooklyn borough president, and Scott Stringer, the city comptroller. Others are positioning themselves as outsiders, including Raymond J. McGuire, a business executive, and Maya Wiley, a lawyer and former MSNBC analyst. The pandemic has reshaped the mayor’s race, and the candidates are all trying to argue that they are the best qualified to help the city recover. Mr. Yang, who was born in upstate New York, has spent most of his adult life living in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan. He gained attention on the campaign trail with his MATH slogan — “Make America Think Harder” — and amassed 1.8 million followers on Twitter and nearly $40 million in campaign contributions.

Giving Tuesday was created to promote charitable acts of giving after consumers spent billions of dollars on goods during Black Friday weekend and on Cyber Monday. While it may feel enticing to shop while saving and giving back, Gall noted shoppers should also be vigilant and make smart shopping decisions when participating in Giving Tuesday. You can also take advantage of cashback offers when online shopping on Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday 2020 versus past years“More people will be participating in Giving Tuesday than in previous years since so many are shopping online right now due to Covid-19, and this creates a potentially bigger impact as Giving Tuesday has become a primarily online event,” said Gall. Giving Tuesday initiativesBrands also hold their own Giving Tuesday initiatives separately from the official Giving Tuesday movement.
