A decade ago, Millennium Management managed $21.1 billion and had 18 senior people — all a part of the executive committee — listed on its website. Now the $64 billion multistrategy manager has 47 names on its leadership page split among divisions like the relatively new Office of the CIO. Executive teams are often just a firm's founder and a few trusted lieutenants. Many departures from the firm's top level have been executives launching their own funds or joining Millennium colleagues starting their own funds. Michael Gelband and Hyung Lee, who once ran fixed income and equities, respectively, brought the business-development pro Peter Hornick and the risk executive Dev Joneja with them when they launched ExodusPoint.

The rise in multi-manager hedge funds over the past five years has forced allocators to create a separate due diligence model for the fastest-growing segment in the industry. Even an executive at a midsized multi-manager admits their firm and its peers are "more like corporations than hedge funds." The Ram Mandir's opening Monday would fulfill a decadeslong Hindu nationalist pledge that is expected to resonate with voters during the upcoming national election expected in April or May. The narrow roads have given way to four-lane pilgrim route, including the newly developed 13-kilometer (8-mile) Ram Path leading to the temple. At least two head priests from a Hindu sect have refused to go the opening ceremony, saying consecrating an unfinished temple goes against Hindu scriptures. And volunteers from Modi’s party and other Hindu nationalist groups are going door to door, distributing religious flags and pamphlets. Many others shared Bhatia's feelings about the temple's opening.

Storms, floods, fires and other extreme weather events led to more than 43 million displacements involving children between 2016 and 2021, according to a United Nations report. But while catastrophes intensify, the world has yet to recognize climate migrants and find formal ways of protecting them. Nearly a third, or 43 million of the 134 million times that people were uprooted from their homes due to extreme weather from 2016-21 included children. Floods displaced children more than 19 million times in places like India and China. Many are enduring “overlapping crises” — where risks from climate extremes are compounded by conflict, fragile institutions and poverty, Healy said.

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Ankur Nagpal, 34, who founded startups Teachable and Ocho Wealth, where he is also the CEO. After I sold my first startup in 2020, I told myself I would never start a company from scratch again. People were setting up all kinds of business through Teachable — courses on computer programming and marketing, to dance, gardening, and yoga. But once I set that aside, I realized running Teachable wasn't what I was uniquely suited to do anymore. But six months ago I started Ocho Wealth, a service designed to help business owners and freelancers learn how to grow their wealth through educational products and financial services.
