School districts also cannot ask students about their immigration status if it may be used to deny them access to a free public education, according to U.S. Department of Education guidance. Tropical Storm Debby has strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane ahead of its anticipated landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast on Monday, U.S. forecasters said late Friday.
