A college student tried to smuggle drugs to Japan from Cambodia, the Japanese authorities say. AdvertisementA college student accused by the Japanese authorities of being a drug smuggler was caught in what one might call an unconventional disguise: a set of Buddhist monk's robes. On Tuesday, Japan Customs said in a statement that on January 25, it detained a Taiwanese man who tried to smuggle drugs into the country from Cambodia. The 21-year-old college student is accused of attempting to move around 13 pounds of stimulant drugs across the Japanese border, per a Thursday report from Japanese news outlet Yomiuri Shimbun. The drugs are worth about 370 million Japanese yen, or $2.4 million, the outlet reported.

We're transitioning from a sleepy capital city into a midsize-to-major city," Jonathan Melton, a member of Raleigh's City Council, told me. The first wants to solve the problem of too little housing by, well, building more housing. But Melton and the YIMBYs' vision rankled some Raleigh residents who eventually started to push back on what they considered extreme pro-development policies. The new buses seem like a great idea, but as with all these changes, residents are worried that the route will have unintended consequences. It's worth noting, too, that most Raleigh residents, even those who oppose the current pace of development, point to some positives.

Samson Baxter, a web developer, tried 'monk mode' to get more done at work. At first he hated it, especially staying off social media, but then his productivity shot up. I was feeling overwhelmed and like I couldn't get anything done when I learned about the 'monk mode' productivity hack. After five weeks of monk mode, Samson Baxter felt burned out again — this time for a different reason. Something had to changeIn the end, I decided that while monk mode did ramp up my focus initially, the long-term effects weren't for me.

He said it sold for $65 million after sites including TikTok "failed" to help creators make money. The 22-year-old certainly doesn't need to live with his folks: He became a millionaire last year after his company, Fanfix, sold for $65 million, according to Crunchbase. It's a model broadly similar to OnlyFans, but with a major difference: it doesn't allow nudity. When SuperOrdinary bought Fanfix, Insider's Geoff Weiss reported that there were plans for product collaborations with the platform's creators. And they took advantage of the creators, and so a massive gap opened up for platforms like Patreon, platforms like us."

I'm a Philadelphia native who used to work as a chef and baker in restaurants around the city. Philadelphia is known for its cheesesteaks, but it also has great Mexican, Italian, and Thai food. There are too many restaurants in Philadelphia worth trying to list them all here. However, these 12 restaurants are my tried-and-true favorites that every first-time visitor should try during a trip to Philadelphia. In my opinion, it serves some of the best Thai food in the country.

The pandemic boosted e-commerce and the startups that pack and ship orders. Startups that once rode the rocket ship of the pandemic e-commerce boom are adjusting to solid ground again. In the fulfillment space just 18 months ago, startups were opening new facilities and making acquisitions at a furious pace. Along with e-commerce growth, the pace of venture funding has slowed, especially as the economy wobbles. (He said ShipHero had been profitable, but went into a growth phase after the first venture round.)
They often ask what it's like to live the beach life. We spend an average of $150 per week on groceries and try to eat most of our meals at home. People love bringing their laptops to the beach, but I prefer to sit on my patio, where it's quiet and sand-free!
