KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — Claims filed on behalf of two men shot by an Illinois teen during a night of protests over a police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, allege the city and Kenosha County were negligent in their response to the unrest. Gaige Grosskreutz, who was seriously wounded, and the parents of Anthony Huber, who was killed, have each filed $10 million claim notices with both the city and county. The notices usually are precursors to lawsuits filed against local governments. Grosskreutz’s attorney, Kimberly Motley, says the actions, or inactions, by police and sheriff's deputies are tied to the shootings. The city of Kenosha is preparing for protests when a charging decision comes in the police shooting of Blake, officials said Sunday.

President Donald Trump's campaign filed a new lawsuit in Wisconsin seeking to invalidate 221,000 votes. The lawsuit would invalidate the vote of Jim Troupis, the campaign's top election lawyer in the state, who wrote the lawsuit. President Donald Trump's campaign has filed yet another election lawsuit, this time trying to invalidate votes in Wisconsin. The lawsuit, filed to the Wisconsin state Supreme Court Tuesday, asks that the court force the state to exclude ballots it argues were out of compliance with election laws. That would include the vote of Jim Troupis, the Trump campaign's top election lawyer in Wisconsin, who filed the lawsuit.

In Wisconsin, Ms. Jacobs chose to certify Mr. Biden’s victory there one day before the state’s Dec. 1 deadline to do so. Ms. Jacobs, a Democrat from Milwaukee, said that certifying the result of the presidential election came at her discretion and that she expected the move to kick-start legal challenges from the Trump campaign. “The power to do this is vested solely in the chair,” Ms. Jacobs said in an interview on Monday. All states must exhaust legal challenges by Dec. 8. The Trump campaign has argued in its recount petition that all ballots cast at in-person absentee voting sites before Election Day should be disqualified.

He asked the Dane County Board of Canvassers to invalidate all in-person absentee ballots, which was a method the state officially offered for returning ballots. Troupis and his wife both voted in-person absentee, and he even included their names on an exhibit he gave to the Board of Canvassers. The Trump campaign has so far won none of the election lawsuits they've brought since President-elect Joe Biden won. Their names were even on exhibits that he submitted to the county Board of Canvassers, according to the Journal Sentinel. He retired from his own law practice in 2013 but appeared to return to law to represent the Trump campaign.

Liz and Dick Uihlein, billionaire owners of the shipping supply company Uline, and two of the Republican Party's biggest donors, have tested positive for the coronavirus, a family spokesman confirmed Thursday to CNBC. Liz Uihlein, who with her husband is a prominent backer of President Donald Trump, has been critical of government restrictions issued in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. After all these long months, I thought we'd never get it," Liz Uihlein, Uline's president and CEO, wrote employees in a statement Wednesday, which was obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. They include White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, Trump campaign advisor Corey Lewandowski, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson, conservative activist David Bossie, and White House political affairs director Brian Jack. Liz Uihlein, in an interview with The Guardian newspaper last April, criticized Wisconsin's stay-at-home orders issued in the early weeks of the pandemic in the United States.

Trump has a "women problem" in Wisconsin, and suburban women are a serious threat to his victory on Election Day. Nicknamed the "WOW counties," the Milwaukee suburbs of Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington have long been reliably red. While women of color in Wisconsin have long championed progressive values and campaigned for increased social equity in this state (and all across our country), privileged white women overwhelmingly have not. So before pundits declare the WOW counties for Trump, they should recognize the threat women pose to the continuation of the Republican political regime here. Conservatives have a serious "women problem" in Wisconsin, and we will be their electoral undoing — sooner or later.
