Then, Kelce saw Oropeza's painting entitled “:13 seconds,” which depicted the dramatic finish to the Chiefs' game against Buffalo in 2022. “That right there,” Kelce told Oropeza, “looks familiar.”Oropeza's work has caught the attention of more than just Kelce in recent years. He's done commissions for Jarrod Dyson of the Kansas City Royals and the wife of former St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols. “We are incredibly proud of our 60-plus-year connection to the Kansas City region,” Chiefs president Mark Donovan said in a statement. Those are just some of the small businesses that have benefited from what has become a robust Chiefs industry.

As a longevity researcher, I've spent the past 20 years studying the habits of people who live to 100 years old or longer, particularly the foods they eat. And in a tucked-away corner of Nicoya, Costa Rica, I may have found the world's healthiest breakfast. They stoke wood fires in clay ovens, put cauldrons of spicy beans to boil, and mix corn dough with wood ash. The beans cook slowly for about an hour to tender perfection and are then mixed with rice. Add water and stir until a soft dough forms (if the mixture won't form a soft ball of dough, add warm water in one tablespoon increments until it will).

Fisker’s first vehicle, the Ocean SUV, went on sale earlier this year. Photo: Angel Garcia/Bloomberg NewsElectric-vehicle startup Fisker has lost its second chief accounting officer in less than a month, marking the latest setback for a company that only recently started selling its first model. Florus Beuting , who was named chief accounting officer in early November, has left the automaker, according to people familiar with the situation. His exit follows the departure of his predecessor, who left in late October to take a job with another company, leading Fisker to unexpectedly delay its earnings release.

Rivian says it has trimmed the losses on each vehicle it sells. Photo: mike blake/ReutersElectric-vehicle startup Rivian Automotive raised its production forecast for the year and said losses narrowed in the third quarter, as the company tries to increase output after a choppy two-year launch. Rivian also said Tuesday it was no longer required to sell its electric delivery vans exclusively to Amazon .com and was in talks with other potential customers. The companies were negotiating an end to the exclusivity part of their agreement after the online retailer’s order came in at the low end of a previously communicated range, The Wall Street Journal reported in March. Amazon owns a nearly 17% stake in Rivian.

QUILLOTA, Chile, Nov 3 (Reuters) - The Pan American Games show jumping competition ended in chaos on Friday, with Canada arguing a judging error had denied Amy Millar a place on the podium, triggering protests and appeals. Video showed that the barrier did drop but the Canadian protest argued it did so after Millar had crossed the finish line and completed her round. The U.S. later filed a counter appeal and could be seen engaged in an animated conversation with the Canadian team outside of the judges' meeting. "We just went all together, including the Canadian team, to watch the video, the video clearly shows she touched the fence," Ward, a five-time Olympian and double gold medallist told Reuters. Ward had no problem with Canada filing a protest but was happy officials made the decision they did.

Chile chasing Pan Am Games soccer golden double

SANTIAGO, Nov 1 (Reuters) - It was a deja vu double celebration for Chile at the Pan American Games on Wednesday as Martina Weil powered to women's 400 metre gold and the men's soccer team took a 1-0 win from the United States. The gold on back-to-back nights at the Estadio Nacional, where the 1962 World Cup final was played, were joyous achievements but it is a double opportunity at soccer gold that really has Chilean hearts pounding. The Chilean men have never won Pan Am Games gold and only once before, in 1987, appeared in the final losing to Brazil while the women have never before got to the semi-finals. Andrea Vargas gave Costa Rica their first gold of the Games successfully defending her 2019 Pan Am title in the 100m hurdles while Brazil's Eduardo Rodrigues won the men's. Led by double Olympic champion McLain Ward the U.S. won the equestrian team jumping gold ahead of Canada and Brazil.

The United Auto Workers union said it reached a tentative deal with General Motors on Monday, more than six weeks after workers went on strike. The company is the last of the three Detroit automakers to reach a new tentative labor deal. Photo: Rebecca Cook/ReutersToyota Motor is giving most of its U.S. auto-factory workers a 9% pay bump and shortening the time it takes to reach the maximum pay, a sign that gains made by the United Auto Workers in Detroit are starting to have a ripple effect in other parts of the auto industry. Toyota, whose U.S. factories aren’t unionized, will increase pay for most assembly plant workers from $31.86 an hour to $34.80 an hour, starting Jan 1., a spokesman for the company said Wednesday.

Toyota executives say that demand for hybrids is outstripping the company’s production capacity. Photo: Stephanie Keith/Bloomberg NewsToyota Motor said it is more than doubling its investment in a battery plant under construction in North Carolina, a move aimed at increasing its ability to meet demand for hybrid models. With the latest $8 billion investment, Toyota is planning to spend nearly $14 billion to turn the facility in Liberty, N.C., into a massive hub for battery production. The 1,000-acre site is slated to contain 14 assembly lines producing batteries for hybrids, plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles. Battery production is scheduled to begin there in 2025.

UAW union members have been striking over job security and pay as automakers push forward in developing EV’s, which require fewer workers and cost more in raw materials. So what does that mean for the future of auto workers and the union? Illustration: George Downs/The Wall Street JournalSix weeks into United Auto Workers’ strike, the impacts of the work stoppages are rippling through the car business, causing pain for the automakers themselves, as well as parts makers and factory workers. One corner of the industry that has been largely spared: dealerships and consumers, due in part to an inventory buildup of both cars and parts before the strikes.

Karthik Nachiappan, who researches Indian foreign policy at the National University of Singapore, noted that the country has a growing influence in the Global South, which is mainly made up of countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. "Non-alignment has been a primary strategy that has covered Indian foreign policy through the decades," Nachiappan told CNBC. However, India's policy of non-alignment has incrementally transformed into a policy of multi-alignment over the years, Nachiappan added. Don McLain Gill, a geopolitical analyst at De La Salle University, says India has an independent approach to its foreign policy. But as the world becomes more polarized, India's foreign policy decisions will test the country's superpower ambitions.
