The dominant global designer and supplier of AI chips aims to capture a portion of an exploding market for custom AI chips and to protect itself from the growing number of companies interested in finding alternatives to its products. Nvidia officials have met with representatives from Amazon.com , Meta, Microsoft, Google and OpenAI to discuss making custom chips for them, according to two sources familiar with the meetings. $30 billion marketAccording to estimates from research firm 650 Group's Alan Weckel, the data center custom chip market will grow to as much as $10 billion this year, and double that in 2025. The report said Google's deliberations follow a standoff between the company and Broadcom over the price of the TPU chips. Broadcom, Google and Marvell did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. Broadcom is seen as the second-biggest winner from the generative AI boom after Nvidia (NVDA.O). Google co-designs its AI chips with Broadcom and tech giant has already lined up the semiconductor firm for its sixth generation processor, the analysts said. That push has accelerated this year after prices surged for Nvidia's H100, the chip that powers most generative AI apps, to nearly double its original cost of $20,000.

Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya called the chip stock an "underappreciated" AI beneficiary in a recent note. May 26 (Reuters) - Shares of Marvell Technology soared about 23% on Friday after the chipmaker became the latest to project a big surge in revenue from the AI boom, days after larger peer Nvidia Corp (NVDA.O) signaled the huge potential for the technology. At least 17 brokerages raised their price targets on Marvell, taking the median price target to $65, implying a 31% upside to the stock's last close. Major cloud computing players Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) and Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O) are adding the latest AI technology to their products in hopes of boosting demand at a time the weak economy has been a drag on their growth.

Semiconductor stocks suffered a series of blows in 2022 as demand for consumer discretionary items fell off a cliff and supply chain disruptions continued. Betting on semiconductor favorites Despite ongoing volatility, some analysts and investors are still betting on once high-flying names in 2023, even though the challenges of 2022 continue. One of those is Advanced Micro Devices, a chip stock commonly connected with PC and server chips that fell hard in 2022. Texas Instruments held up better than the rest of the semiconductor market in 2022, shedding a little more than 12%. Bailey is mostly shying away from former, rapid growth names, with small bets on ASML and Marvell for clients looking for possible higher growth.
We're making several updates to our Bullpen watch list: adding five names, including Caterpillar (CAT), and removing two. Also, adding a stock to the Bullpen does not necessarily mean we would buy it at the current price. Let's go company by company to explain the reasons behind the additions and the removals. 5 stocks added to the Bullpen This aerospace and defense company was formed in 2020 through the combination of Raytheon Company and United Technologies Corporation's aerospace business. 2 stocks removed by the Bullpen We put Barrick Gold in the Bullpen back in March, thinking investors may seek out gold stocks as a safe haven during times of crisis.
This means investors need to shift their focus toward longer-term prospects instead of fixating on near-term gyrations in the market. See below for five stocks picked by Wall Street's top pros, according to TipRanks, a platform that ranks analysts based on their previous performance. However, after the company posted its quarterly results, Susquehanna analyst Christopher Rolland noticed that Nvidia is "getting back on track." This prompted him to reiterate a buy rating on the stock and raise the price target to $185 from $180. (See Marvell Stock Chart on TipRanks) Looking beyond the quarter, Rolland sees several upsides to Marvell.
We're exiting our position in Marvell Technology (MRVL), selling our last 900 shares at roughly $38.86 each. Given our desire to become even more defensive around our portfolio and reduce our exposure to tech, we're making the tough decision Thursday to move on from Marvell Technology . Over the past few years, we've booked significant profits in the stock — in some cases, those gains were well above 200%.
