London CNN —The Church of England has welcomed a report that calls for it to spearhead the establishment of a £1 billion ($1.3 billion) fund to address its historical ties to slavery. The Church Commissioners group, which manages the church’s £10.3 billion ($13 billion) investments, has accepted the report “in full,” the church said in a statement. The report also calls for the Church Commissioners to build up the value of the fund by bringing in co-investors while also increasing its own allocation. The Church of England is the established church in the United Kingdom. It also urged the Church Commissioners to deliver the full sum committed to the fund sooner than over the nine years originally envisaged.

"It's just astonishingly big and it's a reminder of how much risk we're at from sea level rise." "Antarctica has historically been quite a small contributor to sea level rise, but it is growing, and it is taking up a bigger and bigger share of the sea level rise that we see every year," he added. "So, it's a symbol of the growing dominance of Antarctica in the sea level rise equation." This temperature threshold is widely recognized as crucial because so-called tipping points become more likely beyond this level. Tipping points are thresholds at which small changes can lead to dramatic shifts in Earth's entire life support system.

Recent mass layoffs at big tech companies show that even capable hard workers can lose their jobs. Amid mass layoffs, Cnop said that employees need to shift their perspective about work. Cnop said that this is "transactional," and that people should "work for a calling," with a purpose and mission beyond their company. She had been at the company for four years, and didn't regret the hard work because she was passionate about her role. The hard work paid off essentially because having the "respect" of senior leadership meant they supported her business ventures and connected her with big brands.
The Barbie Dreamhouse debuted in 1962, three years after its plastic resident hit toy store shelves. Nine details in the homes show us what Barbie — and we — value, from ambition to accessibility. Barbie hit toy store shelves in 1959, with the first Dreamhouse following three years later for $8. The new book "Barbie Dreamhouse: An Architectural Survey" takes a look at Barbie's history through the architecture and interiors of her consistently updated bachelorette pad. When the Barbie Dreamhouse debuted, it was a vision of a bachelorette pad for a woman unmoored from the expectations of her day.
The newest report's authors highlighted the "terminal diagnosis" for the ice that forms and floats atop the Arctic Ocean each summer. On Monday evening, Arctic campaigners and indigenous youth from the region planned a media event to mark the demise of sea ice. Mallett said COP27 talks would do little to save the summer sea ice. Last year, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said summer sea ice would be lost even if warming peaked at 1.6 degrees above the preindustrial average. If summer sea ice is lost, no multiyear sea ice — sea ice that persists in the ocean from year to year — will remain.
Meta's "quiet layoffs" signal that potentially good employees can lose their jobs in a recession. One academic says workers need to pursue a calling, beyond their company mission. But sometimes even good, hard-working, and loyal employees get laid off. Cnop said that this is "transactional," and that people should "work for a calling," with a purpose and mission beyond their company. It also eases some of the sting of structural layoffs, because you won't be so attached to a singular company.
