AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Judges hearing the case against four defendants in the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 on Wednesday rejected a request by defence attorneys for more time to investigate alternative scenarios about what caused the crash. An international investigation led by the Netherlands, from where roughly two-thirds of the 298 victims originated, concluded that the plane was shot down with a Russian missile. The Dutch government holds Moscow responsible. Russia denies any responsibility for the disaster.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Judges hearing the case against four defendants in the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine rejected on Wednesday a defence request for more time to investigate alternative explanations for the crash. The Dutch government holds Moscow responsible, and three Russians and a Ukrainian are on trial for murder. One, Russian Oleg Pulatov, is represented in court proceedings; the other three are being tried in absentia. Russia has always denied involvement and has promoted a range of alternative theories, which the investigators rejected as unsupported by evidence. He added the court would also like to hear from the other suspects -- Russians Sergey Dubinsky and Igor Girkin, and Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko -- who have never cooperated with the court.

REUTERS/Lim Huey TengKUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Malaysia Airlines’ parent company has sought financial aid from its sole shareholder, the nation’s sovereign wealth fund, as debt restructuring talks with creditors drag on, the company said on Saturday. The group said it remains in talks for a restructuring and that it was targeting a commercial agreement in the first week of December. Malaysia Airlines is seeking to restructure after the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to slash operations. Chief Executive Izham Ismail told staff in a memo last month that the restructuring talks were taking longer than planned.
