Doctors in India say COVID-19 patients have unusual symptoms that could be due to the Delta variant. Doctors in India claim that the highly infectious Delta variant could cause unusual symptoms such as gangrene and hearing loss, which they say are becoming more common in COVID-19 patients of all ages. The highly infectious variant has spread to 67 countries and is becoming more common around the world. The Delta variant is estimated to be 60% more infectious than the Alpha variant that's currently the most common in the US. A Public Health England document from May reported the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines were respectively 88% and 60% effective against the Delta variant after both doses.

The series is about motherhood, the sacrifices Black women make and the challenges of trying to be your full self while parenting another human being. The movie "Blindspotting" was a dynamic and necessary commentary on race, police brutality and manhood. While Estrada's film starts with a bang, the TV series takes a few episodes to find its footing. The constant tension (and screaming matches) between Ashley and Trish are especially jarring, since the origin of their disdain for one another is given short shrift. Yet, as aggravating as the ongoing feud between Ashley and Trish is to viewers, their frustrations with life feel very real.

Pennsylvania Republicans proposed legislation Thursday that would add voter ID requirements and roll back mail voting in the state's elections. The legislation is being pushed by Republicans who sought to undermine the results of the election last year, publicly urging Congress not to certify the state's election results on Jan. 6. Since the election, House Republicans have hosted months of hearings about election processes and voter fraud, despite broad evidence that there is no widespread voter fraud in U.S. elections. At least 22 bills have been enacted, according to the Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University School of Law, which has been tracking voting legislation. The expansive provisions of the bill include creating five days of early in-person voting starting in 2025 and allowing drop boxes.

Manchin Vows to Block Democratic Voting Rights Bill and Preserve Filibuster

“I believe that partisan voting legislation will destroy the already weakening binds of our democracy, and for that reason, I will vote against the For the People Act. Furthermore, I will not vote to weaken or eliminate the filibuster,” Mr. Manchin wrote in The Charleston Gazette-Mail, his home state capital’s newspaper. Even if they did, all 50 would have to vote for the voting rights and ethics bill, considering that no Republican is expected to back it. Mr. Manchin said instead that he would support passage of another bill, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which would restore federal oversight over state-level voting law changes to protect minority groups that might be targeted. “I continue to engage with my Republican and Democratic colleagues about the value of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and I am encouraged by the desire from both sides to transcend partisan politics and strengthen our democracy by protecting voting rights,” Mr. Manchin wrote.

Lithuania's Foreign Ministry accused Belarus on Friday of an attempt to interference with diplomatic mail and summoned Minsk's ambassador to lodge a protest over the matter. A Lithuanian courier who set out by car from Vilnius on Friday carrying documents intended for the Lithuanian Embassy in Belarus was asked by Belarusian border guards to open the sealed container, the ministry said. It said the courier declined to open the container and was then turned back from the border, and that the incident violated rules governing international diplomatic activity. The Belarusian Embassy in Vilnius did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who lives in exile in neighbouring Lithuania, has repeatedly called for more sanctions on the government of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.

REUTERS/Kacper Pempel/IllustrationForeign hackers compromised Russian federal agencies in a digital espionage campaign that Russian officials described as unprecedented in scope and sophistication. The little-noticed report – published this month by Russia's FSB security service and Rostelecom-Solar, the cybersecurity arm of telecoms company Rostelecom (RTKM.MM) – provides an unusually detailed look at a purportedly state-backed cyber spying operation aimed at the Russian state. But while the investigation describes the 2020 hacking campaign as "unprecedented", it provides no indication of who might be behind it. He said the report appeared to be aimed at a Russian audience, perhaps with the aim of burnishing Solar's business credentials. The report also mentioned that hackers had used the cloud storage facilities of Russia's leading technology firms, Yandex (YNDX.O) and (MAILRq.L), to help exfiltrate data.
