Two weeks after she broke the record for women, Caitlin Clark has become NCAA Division I basketball's overall top scorer, period. The Iowa Hawkeyes star went into Sunday's game against the Ohio State Buckeyes needing 17 points to break "Pistol Pete" Maravich's record of 3,667 career points, which stood for more than 50 years. Clark, 22, earned the women's record Feb. 15 when she scored eight points in a game against Michigan and passed Kelsey Plum's 3,527 career points in her career, which ended in 2017. She put up 33 points against Minnesota on Wednesday to cement her place atop the all-time career points among women to play for major colleges. Maravich's NCAA men's scoring record was 3,667 points, which he set playing for LSU from 1968 to 1970.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — South Africa, Colombia and other countries that lost out in the global race for coronavirus vaccines are taking a more combative approach towards drugmakers and pushing back on policies that deny cheap treatment to millions of people with tuberculosis and HIV. The pills are especially important for South Africa, where TB killed more than 50,000 people in 2021, making it the country’s leading cause of death. In July, J&J’s patent on the drug expired in South Africa, but the company had it extended until 2027, enraging activists who accused it of profiteering. Back then, President Nelson Mandela’s government in South Africa eventually suspended patents to allow wider access to AIDS drugs. Sydney CNN —An Australian physical education teacher who murdered his wife so he could start a new life with a teenage student has been found guilty of sexual abuse. Dawson was found guilty last year of murdering his first wife Lynette in a conviction that ended one of Australia’s longest-running cold cases. Judge Huggett sided with AB, finding that Dawson had groomed the teenager while she was still his pupil. Judge Huggett said she accepted the evidence that Dawson had proposed to AB at least once in 1980, when AB was 16. SAN FRANCISCO — Standing at the stoop of her childhood home — a slim but stately Victorian shaded by an evergreen pear tree — Lynette Mackey pulled up a photo of a family gathering from nearly 50 years ago. Sydney CNN —A former high school teacher found guilty of killing his wife in one of Australia’s longest cold cases has been sentenced to 24 years in prison. New South Wales Supreme Court Justice Ian Harrison handed down the sentence on Friday, having found Chris Dawson guilty in August of murdering his wife Lynette in 1982. The crime saga inspired a 2018 podcast by Australian investigative journalist Hedley Thomas called “Teacher’s Pet,” which gained a cult following. The “Teacher’s Pet” podcast examined the police investigation and gathered new evidence including testimony that Dawson, a professional rugby player turned teacher, had been having sex with one of his students when his wife disappeared 40 years ago. Dawson had pleaded not guilty, instead claiming his wife had walked out on him and their two young children when they were just 2 and 4 years old.
